Job Title: Senior Group Leader

Status: Part Time/ Non-Exempt

Department: Youth Development

Schedule: M-F; 2:20pm – 5:30 pm

Reports to: After School Program Director

Job Summary:

The Senior Group Leader is responsible for overseeing the safety and well-being of a group of 20 school-aged participants in CHCF’s After-School Program with the assistance of a Youth Worker. Senior Group Leaders must love children, be flexible and understanding, act as a positive role model, and be a team player. Senior Group Leaders are a critical part of the success of the CHCF After-School Program, as they provide direction, comfort, innovation and partnership between students and the school community.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Supervision of students:

  • Assures all students are safe.
  • Acts as a positive adult role model.
  • Reinforces and models good communication and respectful behavior.
  • Ensures all participants in the group get daily snack.
  • Ensures classroom/space is clean and organized.
  • Ensures participants utilize homework time effectively and assist when needed.
  • Ensures all materials and games stay in good condition and treated with respect.
  • Maintain group control

Lessons:

  • Creates and executes age appropriate lesson plans.
  • Incorporates and implements strategies learned from trainings, professional developments, curriculum and resources from the after school library.
  • Creatively adapts lessons; be flexible as needed.

Teamwork:

  • Collaborates with Group Leaders.
  • Provides input and ideas to improve and expand the After-School programming.
  • Communicates effectively with Group Leaders, Program Coordinator, Teachers, Administrations and other school and program staff.
  • Attends trainings and meetings when required.
  • Actively engages in all activities and trips.

Administrative Duties:

  • Takes daily attendance and snack count.
  • Prepares attendance logs.
  • Provides reports and plans in a timely fashion
  • Lesson Plans
  • Incident Reports (behavior, injury or sickness)
  • Students Behavior and Academic Contract
  • Students Weekly HW and Behavior Tracker
  • Anecdotal Reports
  • Supplies Requests
  • Special Equipment Sign In - Out Sheet
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High School Diploma
  • Some college credits in early childhood, youth development, or education preferred
  • Some related experience working with children is preferred
  • Must love working with youth.
  • Must have problem solving skills.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must possess strong listening skills.
  • Must be punctual.
  • Must be responsible.
  • Intermediate skills in technology.
