Our Loss Control Team is seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Training & Safety Specialist to support the development, coordination, and implementation of safety programs across Texas Electric Cooperatives' membership. In this role, you will travel to member cooperatives and municipalities to conduct safety meetings and facilitate industry-specific training schools. You will also perform safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations to identify hazards, recommend corrective actions, and ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations — including OSHA, EPA, and DOT standards.
Salary negotiable with appropriate experience and certifications.
Key Responsibilities
Ideal candidate will have a travel territory that will include a defined area within Texas
Up to 100% required travel with overnight stays
Conduct safety meetings and teach industry specific training schools
Extensive Public Speaking knowledge - sharing safety and best practices for electric lineman
Provide engaging group presentations/instruction
Maintain accurate records of training completion, safety audits, and incident reports
Design, deliver, and evaluate safety training programs to meet Cooperative standards
Qualifications
Must have Journeyman Lineman experience
Associate of Applied Science Degree for electrical Distribution Lineman preferred
10 years’ experience in electrical distribution system construction and maintenance
Must have Valid driver's license with clean driving record
Knowledge of APPA safety manual and standards
Knowledge of RUS Construction standards preferred
Ability to travel extensively
Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office Suite of Products
Familiarity with Texas Electric Cooperatives membership preferred
Physical Requirements
Must be able to stand or sit particularly for sustained periods of time
May involve exposure to warehouse and outdoor element settings
Able to operate a computer and other office machinery using finger dexterity for typing and writing
Must be able to communicate, converse with, and exchange information by means of the spoken word
Able to perform light physical effort to lift or move lightweight materials up to 50 pounds
Visual acuity to view a computer screen
