Title: Executive Director, A&D & Technical Advisory

Summary:

The Executive Director, A&D & Technical Advisory serves as the firm's senior technical leader responsible for all reservoir engineering, technical due diligence, engineering valuation, and asset-level analysis supporting investment banking and advisory engagements across the energy sector. This individual will provide technical leadership to clients and internal deal teams and serve as a trusted advisor on acquisitions, divestitures, financings, strategic alternatives, and corporate transactions. This position is intended to evolve into a leadership role overseeing the firm's A&D practice and broader technical advisory capabilities.

The role requires a unique combination of deep reservoir engineering expertise, transaction experience, commercial acumen, and client-facing advisory skills. The Executive Director will work directly with senior management, private equity sponsors, public company executives, and investment banking leadership to evaluate opportunities, assess risk, develop valuation perspectives, and support transaction execution.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or related engineering discipline; advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum 15 years of combined experience in oil and gas reservoir engineering, technical advisory, acquisitions and divestitures, investment banking, or related transaction-oriented disciplines
  • Minimum five years of direct experience in both reservoir engineering and transaction advisory, investment banking, or corporate development
  • Advanced proficiency in ARIES, PHDWin, and other reserve evaluation and economic modeling software, including knowledge and leadership of mapping software like ArcGIS or QGIS
  • Extensive experience evaluating upstream oil and gas assets, reserves, development inventory, and corporate transactions
  • Strong understanding of M&A, acquisitions and divestitures, and institutional investor due diligence processes
  • Advanced knowledge of public and private market valuation methodologies, including NAV, reserve valuations, transaction multiples, public company valuation, and cash flow modeling
  • Deep understanding of public energy data sources including regulatory filings, IHS, Enverus, and other industry data sources
  • Exceptional analytical capabilities
  • Strong client-facing presentation and communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing projects, mentoring teams, and coordinating cross-functional transaction efforts
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, transaction-driven environment
  • Strong commercial mindset with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable business recommendations

Position Responsibilities

Technical Leadership:

  • Serve as the firm's senior technical advisor on upstream oil and gas transactions, financings, and strategic engagements
  • Lead reservoir engineering, reserves analysis, technical due diligence, and asset valuation efforts across all energy-related mandates
  • Establish and maintain technical standards, methodologies, databases, and analytical processes utilized throughout the firm
  • Develop proprietary technical insights, benchmarking analyses, and valuation frameworks that support client engagements
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and leadership to investment banking professionals and junior engineers

Transaction Execution & Advisory:

  • Lead technical due diligence efforts for acquisitions, divestitures, mergers, financings, and strategic transactions
  • Evaluate reserve reports, development plans, operating performance, and technical assumptions underlying client assets
  • Partner with bankers and clients to develop valuation perspectives, market positioning, and transaction strategies
  • Assist in preparing management presentations, confidential information memoranda, lender materials, fairness analyses, and board presentations
  • Participate directly in client meetings, management presentations, diligence sessions, and investor discussions
  • Support capital markets transactions through technical evaluation and investor diligence preparation

A&D & Business Development:

  • Assist in the growth and development of the firm's Acquisitions & Divestitures practice
  • Identify transaction opportunities and provide technical insight on marketed and proprietary opportunities
  • Develop relationships with clients, private equity sponsors, engineering firms, and industry participants
  • Support the sourcing, evaluation, and execution of A&D mandates
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to expand the firm's technical advisory and A&D capabilities

Data Analytics & Process Improvement:

  • Oversee reserve databases, engineering datasets, and technical information systems
  • Direct the collection, maintenance, and quality control of production, reserves, and operational data
  • Utilize advanced analytics and data visualization techniques to support valuation and transaction efforts
  • Work closely with investment banking leadership to develop and execute long-term strategic initiatives
  • Establish best practices for technical diligence, engineering evaluation, and valuation analysis across the platform
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop future technical talent within the organization
  • Position the firm as a leading technical advisory and A&D advisor in the energy sector
  • Progressively assume broader leadership responsibilities with the objective of becoming Head of A&D and Technical Advisory
