Health & Safety Technician - Channelview, TX
LOCATION: Channelview - Texas - USA
DEPARTMENT: HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT
Purpose:
Supports Health and Safety function of the region ensuring that HESA management system is implemented as defined by Company requirements, procedures and applicable legal regulation in all sites
Main Responsibilities:
- Participates with proper areas in the systematic identification, assessment and control of hazard and risks.
- Supports the implementation of the Company HESA procedures, ensuring these are properly issued, imlemented and updated, and prepares periodical reports.
- Analyze statistics, trends, action plans, etc. Proposing corrective actions if needed.
- Participates and supports the development of proper HESA training.
- Participates in the company HESA committees and meetings.
- Supports and assists Clients and other interested parties, analyzing their requirements and implementing changes, if needed.
- Follows up the proper use of company IT tools to ensure its application.
- Complies with Tenaris policies, procedures and management standards, and ensures adherence with all laws and regulations that apply to the area of responsibility.
- Protects from damage, theft or misuse the facilities, equipment and other physical resources assigned to his/her area.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum 1–3 years of HSE experience in heavy industry, steel, metals, manufacturing, or similar industrial environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, HSE, Engineering, Industrial Management, or a related field preferred, but not required.
- OSHA certifications, such as OSHA 511, OSHA 7500, or OSHA 30 (Construction or General Industry), are strongly preferred.
- CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or ASP (Associate Safety Professional) certifications are preferred but not required.
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, environmental compliance, and industrial risk management practices
- Experience with incident investigations, audits, corrective actions, and safety management systems.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with Operations and Maintenance.
Working Conditions:
- Combination of office and shop floor presence within an active industrial environment.
- Regular interaction with operations, maintenance, engineering, contractors, and leadership teams.
- Significant time spent in operational areas supporting observations, audits, investigations, and employee engagement.
- Willingness to provide occasional after-hours support, emergency response, and on-call coverage as operational needs require, including the ability to work both day and night shifts.
- Must be able to work in industrial environments requiring PPE and exposure to heat, noise, dust, and moving equipment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk throughout industrial facilities and access elevated work areas.
- Ability to wear required PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety footwear.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
