Position Overview
UES's Tampa Branch is seeking an Environmental Department Manager to lead and grow our Environmental Services Department. The Environmental Department Manager will be responsible for the department's technical, operational, financial, and business development performance, while leading a multidisciplinary team and maintaining strong relationships with clients, regulatory agencies, and internal partners.
Responsibilities
- Lead the day to day operations and strategic growth of the Environmental Department, including staff management, project delivery, financial performance, and resource planning.
- Manage, review, and provide technical oversight for Phase 1 ESA's in accordance with ASTM standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Oversee Phase II ESA's, including development of sampling plans, soil and groundwater investigations, data evaluation, and preparation of technical reports.
- Lead environmental site assessment, contamination investigation, remediation, and closure projects from initial evaluation through regulatory completion.
- Provide technical leadership for asbestos consulting projects, including surveys, assessments, abatement oversight, regulatory compliance, and project documentation.
- Serves as Engineer of Record and provide professional engineering review, oversight, and signature/seals when appropriate.
- Manage projects for scope, schedule, budget, work plans, cost estimates, and other environmental deliverables.
- Develop and maintain relationships with existing clients while identifying opportunities to expand environmental services and generare new business.
- Hire, mentor, develop and manage environmental professionals and field personnel.
- Conduct performance evaluations and implement disciplinary actions as needed.
- Maintain compliance with applicable federal, state and local environmental regulations and company health and safety requirements.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships; support organizational networking and outreach.
- Identify opportunities for new business and additional project work.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates and detailed proposals.
- Review and edit technical reports prepared by staff; prepare reports when directly involved in fieldwork or research.
- Typically spend approximately 80% of the time in the office (report writing/data analysis) and 20% in the field (sampling/research).
- Collaborate with other departments and regional offices to provide technical support.

Travel Requirements
● This position requires extensive travel, approximately up to 70% of the time, in support of business
objectives and client engagements. Travel may be both scheduled and on short notice, depending on
project needs. Destinations typically include job sites, field locations, or regional offices, where work may
be conducted in outdoor or operational environments. Adherence to all company safety protocols and
use of PPE is required during travel and on-site work.
