Overview

The Senior Financial Accountant plays a critical financial role by bridging the gap between field operations and corporate financial reporting. In this role, you will master the operational lifecycle of a pipeline inspection run—from tool launch to final data reporting—to accurately capture financial performance.

Utilizing Microsoft Dynamics 365, you will ensure strict compliance with ASC 606 by recognizing revenue as inspection milestones are achieved in the field.

As a key driver of the month-end close process, you will be directly responsible for preparing and posting core journal entries and performing comprehensive balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

    Process monthly revenue recognition (ASC 606) in D365, including:

  • Track Run Progress: Monitor inspection runs milestones (e.g., start, acceptance, report issuance) to recognize revenue over time.
  • Partner with Operations to review inspection run statuses and milestones to ensure consistent understanding.
  • Update D365 System: Input project status updates into Microsoft Dynamics 365 to trigger automated revenue schedules.
  • Revenue Recognition Account Reconciliation: Ensure the balance sheet accounts are reconciled to properly reflect the assets associated with inspection runs and current statuses.
  • Expense Accruals: Prepare monthly accrual entries, review vendor invoices, and reconcile prepaid expenses.

    General Ledger: Perform balance sheet reconciliations, post journal entries, and assist with financial statement preparation.

    Audit Support: Prepare documentation and reports for external annual audits.

  • Participates in special projects, as the need arises.

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent.
  • 7+ years of corporate accounting experience, including revenue recognition.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience with an ERP system is required, experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is preferred.
  • Ability to understand overall business operations and related revenue recognition.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
