About this role
The Boring Company was founded to solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic by creating an underground network of tunnels. Today, we are creating the technology to increase tunneling speed and decrease costs by a factor of 10 or more with the ultimate goal of making Hyperloop adoption viable and enabling rapid transit across densely populated regions.
We are seeking an Architectural Designer to help us design, plan, and carry out our construction projects in cities across the world!
Responsibilities
- Apply a first principles approach to design production: simplify requirements, delete unnecessary process steps, optimize, accelerate production, and automate.
- Assist in the design of tunnel support structures and underground connectors, and support high-level planning and concept design for stations and alignments.
- Support coordination directly with individual hotel and property clients to ensure station and connector design aligns with their brand and property style.
- Assist project teams in the production of quality documents from initial concepts to construction documents.
- Interface with Structural, Civil, MEP, and in-house teams to ensure design intent is carried through across disciplines.
- Research building codes, materials, and industry guidelines to develop details and comprehensive and constructible drawings.
- Implement QC measures and ensure deliverables comply with requirements.
- Make sound, timely decisions, involving appropriate people in the process.
- Ensure projects meet client agreements, budgets, goals, and work assignments.
- Professionally communicate assignments to staff, consultants, and vendors.
- Occasional travel required.
Basic Qualifications
- Professional degree in Architecture.
- 2-4 years of professional design experience on commercial, infrastructure, or industrial projects.
- High proficiency in Revit in a professional office setting.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D.
- A portfolio demonstrating relevant project work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in Rhino.
- Experience in infrastructure, transportation, or industrial/manufacturing project types.
- Experience working within large, multi-disciplinary team environments.
- Background on the owner side of large-scale projects (e.g., aerospace, automotive, semiconductor, oil & gas).
- Scripting experience with visual programming automation tools (Dynamo and Grasshopper).
- Proficiency in visualization tools such as Lumion, Enscape, V-ray, Keyshot, Unreal, or Twinmotion.
