Te Tūranga - The Role

Join our System Verification & Validation (SSV) team and gain hands-on experience developing automated testing solutions for mission-critical communications technology used around the world. As part of this project, you'll help build an automated test framework that validates interoperability between Tait Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) products and third-party DMR equipment.

Working alongside experienced engineers, you'll investigate DMR protocols, develop and enhance automation scripts, execute automated test scenarios, and analyse results. You'll also contribute to improving test reporting and identifying opportunities to expand test coverage and efficiency.

This internship offers exposure to software development, test automation, telecommunications, and networking technologies in a real-world engineering environment. It's an excellent opportunity to apply your technical skills, learn from industry experts, and contribute to the delivery of high-quality communication solutions used by customers worldwide.

Ō pūkenga - About You

This opportunity is suited to a student studying Software Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline, with an interest in software testing, automation, networking, communications systems, or telecommunications technologies.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Programming experience, preferably in Python or another scripting language.

  • An interest in test automation, software quality, networking, or digital communications systems.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate technical issues and identify practical solutions.

  • The ability to analyse, document, and communicate technical findings effectively.

  • A proactive approach to learning and working independently, while also collaborating effectively within a team.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a willingness to ask questions and learn from experienced engineers.

Experience with automated testing frameworks, networking protocols, Linux environments, radio communications, or telecommunications technologies would be an advantage. Most importantly, you're excited to learn, tackle real-world engineering challenges, and contribute to the delivery of high-quality communication solutions used in mission-critical environments around the world.
