About this role

About the Role

We are looking for a Head of Sales – India to own and scale our largest and most established market. This is a build-and-lead role: you will own the India revenue number end to end, and you will build the team, the process, and the operating rhythm that gets us there.

Because DeepInspect changes how a plant runs quality, our deals are decided at the top — Plant Head, Head of Quality, Director and VP of Manufacturing, and often the CFO. You will personally lead our most strategic accounts while coaching a team of Account Executives across NCR, Pune, Chennai, and Gujarat to do the same. You will own the full revenue function in India: new business, account expansion, pre-sales and Sales Engineering, and channel partnerships.

You will report directly to the Co-Founder and have a seat at the table on pricing, product roadmap, and go-to-market strategy.

What You Will Own

Revenue & Forecasting

  • Own the India Annual Operating Plan (AOP) — build the number bottom-up by territory, industry segment, and deal-size band, and defend it with funnel math.

  • Deliver quarterly and annual revenue targets, with an accurate, defensible forecast the Co-Founders and Board can rely on.

  • Own pipeline coverage, stage-wise conversion, sales-cycle length, average deal size, and win rate as managed metrics — not lagging reports.

  • Run a disciplined weekly pipeline review and monthly business review cadence.

Team Leadership & Capability

  • Hire, onboard, and develop a team of Account Executives and Sales Engineers across India’s major industrial hubs — Chennai, Delhi, Pune, and Ahmedabad.

  • Define territory design, quota setting, and incentive structures in partnership with the Co-Founders and Finance.

  • Coach on value-based, solution-selling for a techno-commercial sale — from defect matrix to application feasibility to techno-commercial closure.

  • Build the sales playbook: qualification framework, discovery questions, ROI models, objection handling, and competitive battlecards.

  • Determine the right AE-to-Sales-Engineer ratio and make the resourcing case as the business scales.

Strategic Selling

  • Personally lead and close SwitchOn’s largest and most strategic India accounts, including Fortune 500 manufacturers.

  • Build executive relationships at Plant Head, Head of Quality, VP/Director Manufacturing, and CXO level.

  • Convert single-plant pilots into multi-line and multi-plant enterprise rollouts — our biggest growth lever.

  • Own commercial strategy: pricing, deal structuring, and negotiation on complex hardware-plus-software contracts.

Market & Segment Strategy

  • Define which industries, sub-segments, and applications we go after in India, and where we deliberately do not play.

  • Own competitive positioning against global machine-vision incumbents and emerging AI-native challengers.

  • Build the channel and partnerships motion — system integrators and industrial-automation partners — to extend coverage beyond direct selling.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Partner with Product and Engineering to bring structured customer feedback into the roadmap and to qualify application feasibility early.

  • Partner with Marketing on demand generation, industry events, and customer proof points.

  • Partner with Customer Success and Delivery so that pilots convert, deployments land on time, and references compound.

  • Own CRM hygiene and sales operating discipline (Zoho CRM) as a source of truth, not an afterthought.

Requirements

What You Bring

Must have

  • 10–15 years in B2B sales, including 4+ years leading and scaling a quota-carrying sales team in India.

  • Proven track record of consistently delivering an annual revenue number of meaningful scale, with the ability to walk us through how you built and defended your plan.

  • Deep experience selling into manufacturing — ideally Automotive and/or CPG/FMCG — with credibility on the shop floor and in the boardroom.

  • Strong solution-selling and value-based selling capability on a techno-commercial sale with a long, multi-stakeholder cycle.

  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and industrial automation.

  • Hands-on discipline with sales tools and CRM (Zoho, Salesforce, or equivalent) — including forecasting hygiene and funnel analytics.

  • Experience operating across India’s major industrial hubs — Chennai, NCR, Pune, and Gujarat.

  • Willingness to travel regularly to customer plants.

Strong plus

  • Machine vision, Industry 4.0, IIoT, MES, or ERP sales experience — for example Keyence, Cognex, Omron, SICK, Banner, Basler, or AI-native inspection players.

  • Experience selling a hybrid hardware-plus-software / SaaS commercial model.

  • Experience scaling a sales team in a high-growth, Series-A-to-C startup environment.

  • B.Tech (Electronics / Instrumentation / Electrical / Mechanical) or equivalent technical grounding; MBA optional.

How you work

  • High integrity and transparency — you call your number honestly, in good quarters and bad.

  • A builder, not a caretaker — comfortable creating a process where none exists.

  • Player-coach instinct — you will happily get on a plane and sit in the plant with a customer.

  • Data-led — you manage the funnel with numbers, not anecdotes.

Benefits

Why Join Us

  • Own India — our largest and most established market — at the moment it moves from early traction to scale.

  • Work directly with the Co-Founder, with real influence on pricing, product, and go-to-market strategy.

  • Sell a product with a hard, provable ROI: fewer defects, fewer customer complaints, higher throughput, and quality inspectors who are made more capable rather than replaced.

  • Fortune 500 logos already on the platform, and a category that is still being defined.

  • Meaningful ESOP participation at a post-Series-B stage.
