At Sweet Project Construction Limited, (SPCL), we work with the data, defence, and energy sectors. This role is to be initially based on our Union Park project in Hayes. As principal contractor we are constructing 18 Data Halls of approximately 1250m2 each, to be deployed at approximately 24MW of total useable IT power. Part of the development included the construction of an adjacent High Voltage Electrical Compound. This was linked to a Medium Voltage Energy Centre with dual backup power generation. The building mass consists of a series of staggered blocks, surrounded by an internal one-way circulation system with both soft and hard landscaping.
The MV Energy Centres are located either side of North Hyde Gardens are smaller in scale providing a stepping down appearance towards the Grand Union Canal. The HV Energy Centre is located to the east of the MV Energy Centre to the side of North Hyde Gardens. A single storey Visitor Reception Centre enabling security protocols for visitors and employees is located near North Hyde Gardens.
The Senior Site Engineer is accountable for the day-to-day engineering delivery of allocated project packages.
The role provides technical leadership during construction, coordinates engineering activities, manages technical interfaces and ensures works are delivered in accordance with approved information, quality requirements, construction methodologies and project governance requirements. Experience required
- Experience delivering site engineering activities on major construction or infrastructure projects
- Experience as a temporary works coordinator or supervisor
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies and sequencing
- Experience managing technical queries and producing detailed engineering records
- Data Centre experience desirable
Qualifications
- Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering
- Working towards Chartered Engineer status desirable
- CSCS Manager Card
- Temporary Works Coordinator qualification desirable

- Provide day-to-day engineering support to construction teams
- Resolve technical issues and engineering constraints affecting delivery
- Ensure construction teams have the information and support required to maintain productivity
Workface Planning & Readiness
- Support workface planning activities and construction sequencing
- Ensure engineering deliverables, approvals and technical information are available ahead of construction activities
- Identify engineering constraints and implement mitigation measures
Engineering Delivery
- Lead day-to-day engineering activities for the allocated package, including establishing site control, setting out, surveys, and all relevant checks
- Coordinate engineering resources and technical priorities
- Ensure engineering outputs support programme objectives
Technical Coordination
- Manage technical queries, RFIs and engineering communications
- Coordinate design interfaces, temporary works interfaces and engineering approvals
- Support resolution of technical and construction issues
Quality & Compliance
- Implement inspection and testing requirements in accordance with approved procedures
- Management of QA process, in-line with Sweet Projects policies and minimum standards
- Contribute to management of snagging and handover process
- Ensure works comply with approved designs, specifications and quality requirements
- Support management of NCRs and corrective actions
Progress Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor engineering progress and support reporting requirements
- Escalate delivery risks and engineering concerns
- Maintain accurate engineering records and project documentation
Success Measures
- First-time quality performance
- Technical query resolution performance
- Inspection and test completion rates
- Engineering productivity
- Reduction in defects and rework
- Quality of package handover information
- Compliance with engineering and quality requirements
