This role is to be initially based on our Union Park project in Hayes.  As principal contractor we are constructing 18 Data Halls of approximately 1250m2 each, to be deployed at approximately 24MW of total useable IT power. Part of the development included the construction of an adjacent High Voltage Electrical Compound. This was linked to a Medium Voltage Energy Centre with dual backup power generation. The building mass consists of a series of staggered blocks, surrounded by an internal one-way circulation system with both soft and hard landscaping. 
 
The MV Energy Centres are located either side of North Hyde Gardens are smaller in scale providing a stepping down appearance towards the Grand Union Canal. The HV Energy Centre is located to the east of the MV Energy Centre to the side of North Hyde Gardens. A single storey Visitor Reception Centre enabling security protocols for visitors and employees is located near North Hyde Gardens.

The Project Engineering Manager is accountable for technical governance, engineering assurance and quality assurance across the project.
 
The role provides independent oversight of design compliance, engineering compliance and technical risk, ensuring that all works are delivered in accordance with approved design information, contractual requirements, statutory obligations and engineering best practice. Experience required
 
  • Significant experience leading engineering functions on major construction or infrastructure projects
  • Experience in technical assurance, engineering governance and quality assurance
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Strong understanding of design management, buildability and constructability
  • Data Centre experience desirable
 
Qualifications
 
  • Degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Chartered Engineer status desirable
  • CSCS Manager Card
  • Temporary Works training and experience
  • NEC contract experience

  • Lead the engineering function across the project
  • Establish engineering standards, governance processes and assurance activities
  • Promote consistency in engineering decision-making and technical compliance

Technical Assurance & Compliance
  • Own the Technical Assurance Framework across the project
  • Ensure construction activities comply with approved design information and employer requirements
  • Provide independent challenge where technical compliance may be compromised

Buildability & Constructability
  • Lead multidisciplinary constructability and buildability reviews
  • Challenge engineering solutions to improve safety, quality and programme certainty
  • Promote efficient and practical engineering solutions

Design Assurance & Technical Integration
  • Act as primary technical interface between design, construction and package delivery teams
  • Provide technical oversight of design development and technical coordination
  • Manage technical risks and engineering interfaces across all packages

Quality Assurance & NCR Governance
  • Own the project quality assurance strategy and inspection regime
  • Govern NCRs, technical deviations and concessions
  • Ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively

Risk Management & Continuous Improvement
  • Identify and manage technical risks
  • Escalate issues affecting quality, safety, programme or commercial outcomes
  • Drive engineering lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives

People & Leadership
  • Lead, mentor and develop Senior Engineers and engineering teams
  • Promote a culture of technical excellence and accountability
  • Support development of engineering capability across the project

The duties listed are not exhaustive and may be varied from time to time as dictated by the changing needs of the Company. The post holder will be expected to undertake other duties as appropriate and as requested by his/her manager.
