About the Role

We are inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) from experienced professionals for the position of Signalling Design Expert to support upcoming major rail and transportation infrastructure projects in the United Arab Emirates.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, development, and integration of railway signalling systems, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of modern rail networks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of railway signalling systems for Metro, Mainline Railway, High-Speed Rail (HSR), Light Rail Transit (LRT), and Automated People Mover (APM) projects.

  • Prepare signalling design documentation, including signalling layouts, control tables, interface documentation, scheme plans, and technical specifications.

  • Develop signalling system architecture and ensure compliance with operational, safety, and performance requirements.

  • Coordinate signalling interfaces with telecommunications, SCADA, traction power, track, rolling stock, PSD, and other multidisciplinary systems.

  • Ensure compliance with international railway standards, client requirements, and applicable regulations.

  • Participate in design reviews, hazard identification workshops, safety assessments, testing and commissioning planning, and system integration activities.

  • Review consultant and contractor submissions to ensure technical compliance and quality.

  • Identify technical risks and recommend engineering solutions throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Support client meetings, technical workshops, and design presentations.

  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical excellence across project teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electronics Engineering, Communications Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum 10–15 years of railway signalling design experience, including design delivery for Metro, Mainline Railway, High-Speed Rail (HSR), Light Rail Transit (LRT), or Automated People Mover (APM) systems.

  • Strong knowledge of railway signalling principles, including CBTC, ETCS, Interlocking, ATP, ATO, ATS, and wayside signalling systems.

  • Experience preparing signalling design documentation, interface specifications, engineering calculations, and technical reports.

  • Familiarity with railway RAMS principles, functional safety, and international railway standards such as CENELEC (EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129), IEC, IEEE, and other relevant industry standards.

  • Strong understanding of multidisciplinary coordination within complex rail infrastructure projects.

  • Experience working within international engineering consultancy environments is highly desirable.

  • UAE or GCC project experience is preferred.

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
