Role Overview
The Senior Manager, Employee Communications & Brand is responsible for shaping how employees experience SJ.
Reporting to the Director, Global Communications, the role leads employee communications, organisational alignment, culture activation, change communications and brand adoption across the Group.
The role works closely with senior leaders, People & Culture, transformation teams and regional communication leads to ensure employees understand SJ's strategy, feel connected to its purpose and are equipped to navigate change.
The role also serves as the steward of the OneSJ brand internally, ensuring the organisation presents itself consistently across channels, geographies and business lines.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Communications
- Develop and execute SJ's global employee communications strategy.
- Own the Group-wide communications calendar and internal editorial roadmap.
- Lead global cascade frameworks, communication packs and localisation guidance.
- Oversee governance of internal communications channels, including email, intranet and Viva Engage.
- Monitor communication effectiveness and continuously improve employee communications performance.
Change Communications
- Lead communications planning and stakeholder engagement for transformation initiatives.
- Partner stakeholders on organisational change, operating model shifts, technology rollouts and governance programmes.
- Develop communication plans, manager toolkits, FAQs and cascade materials.
- Provide strategic advice on employee engagement and change adoption.
Culture & Employee Engagement
- Lead communication strategies supporting SJ's culture framework and organisational values.
- Develop employee engagement and recognition campaigns.
- Support leadership communications and organisational storytelling.
- Partner People & Culture on employee value proposition and employer brand initiatives.
Brand Adoption & Governance
- Drive internal activation of the OneSJ brand.
- Develop and maintain brand guidance, templates and communication resources.
- Promote consistent brand adoption across business lines and functions.
- Partner creative and marketing teams to ensure alignment between internal and external brand expression.
Leadership Communications
- Support enterprise-wide leadership communications programmes.
- Shape key employee announcements and leadership messages.
- Partner the Experiences team on Townhalls, Leadership Forums, Family Day and major employee programmes.
- Ensure communication strategies reinforce employee experience initiatives.
Requirements
- Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Organisational Psychology, HR or related discipline.
- 10+ years' experience in employee communications, internal communications, change communications or corporate communications.
- Demonstrated experience supporting organisational transformation and change programmes.
- Experience partnering with senior leaders and corporate functions.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing capabilities.
- Excellent writing and storytelling skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools, SharePoint and broadcast email tools.
