Primary Purpose of Position
The Senior Associate Accountant – Intercompany (GA/GL) is responsible for accurately and timely recording, reconciling, and resolving intercompany transactions across group entities. The role focuses on end-to-end intercompany accounting, including balancing intercompany accounts, resolving mismatches, and ensuring alignment between counterparties in accordance with group policies and reporting timelines. This position supports the monthly close process by performing detailed general ledger analysis and reconciliation of intercompany balances, collaborating with global stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with financial reporting standards.
The Senior Associate Accountant may also be assigned other duties and responsibilities as required.
Key Responsibilities
Perform end-to-end intercompany accounting, including transaction recording, validation, and reconciliation.
Prepare and review intercompany account reconciliations (e.g., due to/from, intercompany revenue/expenses, loans).
Investigate and resolve intercompany mismatches and out-of-balance positions with counterparties across entities.
Ensure timely agreement of balances between intercompany partners prior to month-end close.
Prepare and post manual journal entries related to intercompany adjustments, eliminations, and reclasses.
Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities, ensuring intercompany balances are properly reconciled and reported.
Coordinate with local finance teams and global stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and alignment issues.
Perform variance analysis and root cause investigation for reconciling items.
Ensure proper documentation and audit trail for all intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
Prepare and maintain intercompany reports and aging schedules.
Support internal and external audit requirements related to intercompany balances.
Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities in intercompany processes.
Ensure compliance with group policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.
Key Performance Indicators
Timely and accurate completion of intercompany reconciliations.
Reduction in aged reconciling items and unresolved differences.
Continuous communication with supervisors and colleagues on status of assigned tasks.
Establish collaborative relationships with internal clients to understand the business and continuously identify ways to be of service.
Ensure high-level of confidentiality is maintained at all times.
High level of participation and engagement in company activities would be encouraged.
Assist other team members during peak times.
Successful, on-time resolution of transactional issues and proper escalation is observed.
Continuous improvement in process efficiency and standardization.
Key Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Must possess at least a Bachelor's/College Degree in Business, Accounting or related field.
With 2 to 4 years of relevant work experience in Project Accounting, General Accounting, Cost Accounting, Intercompany Accounting, Auditing, Accounts Payable or equivalent.
Ability to prioritise tasks to manage competing deadlines.
Proficiency in MS Office applications and accounting fundamentals.
Experience in a BPO or Shared Service setting is an advantage.
Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software or any financial reporting software is required, SAP or S/4 Hana is a plus.
Basic communication skills. Able to relay basic oral and written information.
Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills within a multi-cultural business environment.
Able to collaborate with team members, internal clients and management.
Ability to cope with ambiguity and change and maintain high level of professionalism when working under pressure.
