Junior Drafter

SJ India GDC Bangalore · On-site

About this role

We are seeking a technical specialist in Civil Drafting to join our high-performing Waste and Resource Recovery team in Newcastle. This role is strictly focused on the high-quality delivery of construction-ready civil documentation and precision modelling for complex environmental infrastructure.

Supporting two Senior Designers on a national project pipeline, you will be responsible for the drafting and modelling of landfill cells, capping systems, and supporting civil infrastructure. This is a role for a drafter who takes pride in the "craft" of civil documentation—ensuring accuracy, consistency, and technical excellence across every plan set.

Core Civil Drafting Responsibilities

  • Construction Documentation: Produce comprehensive civil drawing packages, including site plans, long sections, cross sections, and detailed design drawings for landfill cells and caps.
  • Infrastructure Design: Draft and detail stormwater management systems, drainage networks, leachate collection systems, and heavy-duty access roads.
  • Standards Management: Ensure all drafting adheres strictly to company and project-specific CAD standards, maintaining high-level presentation and technical clarity.
  • Digital Workflows: Manage and sync design data across Autodesk Vault and ACC (BIM 360), ensuring a "single source of truth" for the national team.

Technical Toolkit

  • AutoCAD: Expert-level 2D/3D drafting, including sheet set management and Xref coordination.
  • Autodesk Vault & ACC: Proven experience in engineering document control and cloud-based collaboration.
  • Synergy: Ability to manage project tasks and time-tracking within a structured system.
  • 12D Model: Advanced proficiency in civil modeling, tin generation, and drainage strings.

Experience & Requirements

  • Years of Experience: 3+ years in a dedicated Civil Drafting role (consultancy experience preferred).
  • Civil Expertise: A strong background in heavy civil infrastructure, earthworks, or environmental engineering projects.
  • Collaboration: Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, including providing clear instructions and feedback to offshore delivery partners.
  • Detail-Oriented: A rigorous approach to QA/QC, ensuring drawings are error-free before they reach the Senior Designer or Client.

What We Offer

  • A Newcastle-based role supporting high-impact, national projects in the growing resource recovery sector.
  • A Tier 1 consulting environment with sophisticated digital delivery workflows.
  • The opportunity to work within a specialized, high-performing team that values technical drafting excellence.
