Job Summary
The Electrical Engineer (Facilities Management) is responsible for the operation, maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement of the campus electrical infrastructure. The role ensures that all electrical systems are operated safely, efficiently, and in compliance with statutory regulations, client requirements, and service level agreements (SLAs). Working closely with the Facilities Management team, the Electrical Engineer supports preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, asset lifecycle management, energy efficiency initiatives, and campus improvement projects to ensure a safe and conducive environment for building occupants.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the operation, maintenance, and reliability of campus electrical systems, including LV/HV distribution, transformers, switchgear, generators, UPS, lighting, and emergency power systems.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance activities to ensure system availability and reliability.
- Conduct inspections, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis to resolve electrical faults and minimize downtime.
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, workplace safety requirements, electrical codes, and company policies.
- Supervise and coordinate the performance of contractors and service providers, ensuring maintenance works are completed safely, on time, and to the required standards.
- Support asset lifecycle management, including condition assessments, replacement planning, and equipment upgrades.
- Monitor electrical system performance and recommend energy-saving initiatives to improve operational efficiency and sustainability.
- Prepare technical reports, maintenance records, risk assessments, and documentation related to electrical systems.
- Support budgeting, planning, and execution of electrical upgrading, refurbishment, and capital improvement projects.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, regulatory authorities, and internal stakeholders on electrical engineering matters.
- Participate in emergency response and provide technical support during system failures or critical incidents.
- Ensure all maintenance activities meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and client expectations.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering within Facilities Management, commercial buildings, healthcare, education, or campus environments.
- Sound knowledge of electrical distribution systems, building services, emergency power systems, and maintenance best practices.
- Familiarity with Singapore electrical regulations, Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) requirements, and statutory compliance.
- Experience managing maintenance contractors and service providers.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is an advantage.
- Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
