About this role

As a QA Engineer, you will own hands-on manual quality assurance for customer-facing e-commerce storefronts, testing the complete shopping experience across desktop, mobile web, Android, and iOS. Your job is to approach each site like a real customer while thinking like a tester—digging beyond obvious functionality to uncover subtle bugs, inconsistencies, usability issues, and edge cases that others may overlook.

Our client is a growing e-commerce technology company helping direct-to-consumer brands deliver faster, more reliable online shopping experiences. Quality assurance is an important part of the value provided to its customers. Following site updates and releases, you will thoroughly validate storefront functionality and customer journeys, document findings with clear evidence, and help the engineering team distinguish implementation-related issues from broader storefront problems.

This role is ideal for someone who is naturally curious, highly detail-oriented, and enjoys taking digital experiences apart to understand how they behave under different scenarios.

Responsibilities
  • Perform thorough manual QA testing of customer-facing e-commerce storefronts across desktop, mobile, Android, iOS, and major browsers.
  • Test complete customer journeys across homepage, search, collections, product pages, cart, and checkout.
  • Conduct functional, regression, smoke, exploratory, usability, end-to-end, cross-browser, and cross-device testing.
  • Validate storefront functionality following releases and site updates to ensure existing features and customer journeys continue to work as expected.
  • Identify functional bugs, edge cases, visual inconsistencies, and UX/UI issues that could negatively impact the customer experience.
  • Investigate and reproduce issues across different devices, browsers, and user journeys to understand when and how they occur.
  • Create clear, structured QA reports documenting customer impact, steps to reproduce, actual vs. expected behavior, and supporting evidence such as screen recordings.
  • Communicate actionable findings to engineering and internal stakeholders and flag urgent or recurring issues.
  • Maintain organized testing notes and proactively identify patterns or areas that require deeper investigation.
  • Hands-on experience performing manual QA testing on customer-facing websites or web applications.
  • Strong understanding of functional, regression, exploratory, end-to-end, cross-browser, and cross-device testing.
  • Experience testing e-commerce customer journeys, including product discovery, search, cart, and checkout.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify subtle bugs, inconsistencies, and edge cases others may overlook.
  • Strong understanding of the customer experience and ability to evaluate a website from an end-user perspective.
  • Ability to independently investigate, reproduce, document, and clearly communicate bugs with minimal oversight.
  • Strong written and spoken English and ability to produce clear, professional QA reports.
  • Availability to work full-time during U.S. business hours, approximately 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. ET.

Preferred

  • Previous QA experience in e-commerce, retail, or direct-to-consumer (DTC) environments.
  • Working knowledge of UX/UI principles and customer experience best practices.
  • Exposure to conversion rate optimization (CRO) or digital experimentation.
  • Experience with QA, test management, or bug-tracking tools such as Jira, TestRail, TestLodge, or similar.
  • Familiarity with browser developer tools, console/network inspection, or basic API testing is a plus.
  • Salary: $2,000 USD/Month
  • PTO: 15 days
  • Holidays: Local or US holidays
