Sunland Asphalt, LLC. is seeking a dynamic and results-driven HR Generalist to join our booming business. Work is primarily office-based with periodic visits to field environments.

With general supervision, this role supports execution of people strategies by serving as a primary point of contact for leaders and employees with general inquiries related to payroll, benefits, policies, and HR systems. This role also manages high volume recruiting through to offers. The expectation is to perform work in alignment with long term people strategies by providing hands-on execution to help improve performance, engagement, and organizational effectiveness.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Serves as central point of contact to respond to inquiries and requests through HRmail, fax, and other general generic measures. Follows standard operating procedures to respond to basic questions related to HR programs, policies, payroll, benefits, timekeeping, and employee self-service, ensuring issues are resolved accurately or routed appropriately. Escalates complex issues as appropriate.
  • Receives requests for information or monitors sources to understand need for unemployment claims and verifications of employment. Researches systems to respond to requests and responds with accurate information in a timely manner.
  • Supports external agency audits, requests, or complaints, minimizing risk to the organization by providing clear, timely documentation and responses.
  • Creates and manages job postings across recruiting platforms, leveraging sponsored advertising campaigns to maximize visibility and attract qualified talent for high volume positions.
  • Reviews and screens applicants, conducts phone interviews, prepares detailed candidate evaluations, and recommends qualified candidates for hiring manager consideration.
  • Supports candidates throughout the hiring process to ensure a positive candidate experience, prepares accurate and compliant offer letters.
  • As requested, assists with supporting HRBP and leader driven action plans to ensure ongoing accountability in strengthening culture, morale, and retention.
  • As directed, supports high-impact initiatives that standardize HR policies and processes to best support the organization, including: implementation of employee handbook updates, investigation tracking, engagement survey administration and other centralized HR processes to ensure clarity, fairness, and operational consistency.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of Human Resources and business operations as normally obtained through the completion of a bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Human Resources; 2 years in Recruiting.
  • Experience in complex, multi-site, or regulated environments (construction, manufacturing, etc.) is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence, build relationships and desire to assist others at all levels.
  • Must demonstrate high levels of judgment and discretion and experience in handling high-risk employee relations and investigations.
  • Ability to balance empathy with accountability in helping leaders and employees navigate basic employee related matters.
  • Able to adapt and maintain flexibility in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.
  • Some exposure and project management experience is preferred.
  • Exposure to employment laws and practical application in a multi-state environment.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
  • Spanish fluency (spoken and written) strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR/ERP systems.
