Job Summary
The Project Engineer is responsible for supporting technical project planning, execution, and monitoring. The role involves working independently with general supervision and contributing to project success through technical and analytical support.
This job profile is intended for experienced professionals who apply practical knowledge of a job area and work independently with general supervision.

SUMMARY:

The project engineering position verifies that components and assemblies meet all applicable design requirements, engineering standards, customer specifications, and applicable ASME codes and standards. This role performs calculations, technical evaluations, and detailed drawing reviews to confirm compliance with engineering standards, design documentation, and ASME Codes. The engineer contributes to ensuring that the parts, materials, and assemblies selected satisfy the functional and regulatory requirements of the nuclear application.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Verifies that replacement parts, new equipment, retrofit pumps, and refurbished pumps are designed & constructed in accordance with customer design specifications, applicable codes & standards, and Sulzer-internal Engineering standards.
  • Generates, reviews, and maintains the design Bill of Materials and Drawings while adhering to Engineering Specifications, detailed documentation of design requirements, and ASME standards.
  • Perform technical evaluations and justifications to resolve non-conformance reports, supplier deviations, and design changes.
  • Perform design, material, and seismic reconciliations and/or reports for nuclear-safety-related components and ASME Code Components.
  • Reviews and verifies cross-sectional and general arrangement drawings.
  • Reviews component drawings to ensure adherence to Engineering Standards, design requirements, ASME Code requirements, and GD&T standards.
  • Review and maintenance of special processes to ensure adherence to Engineering Standards and design requirements.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adheres to company and department policies, procedures, and standards
  • Supports, cooperates with, and participates in company-wide LEAN and Environmental Safety & Health (ESH) Management System which includes following all safety, health and environmental policies and procedures. Supports and cooperates in company-wide Quality Management effort.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Requires a minimum of three (3), in mechanical engineering of rotating equipment design experience preferred but not required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Engineering degree.
  • Basic understanding of engineering principles, calculations, and design software.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and CAD tools.
  • FE Certification is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to balance multiple tasks
  • Eagerness to learn and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, or Lawful Permanent Resident
