About the role
Sulzer is seeking an experienced HR Director –Mexico to lead the HR function for our Mexico operations and serve as a strategic business partner to senior and operational leadership.
This role requires a leader who can combine strategic thinking with hands-on HR leadership in a manufacturing environment. The HR Director will lead organizational transformation, workforce planning, culture and talent initiatives while maintaining strong oversight of labor relations, employee relations and HR operations.
The successful candidate will bring strong business acumen, executive presence and a demonstrated ability to translate people strategies into practical actions and measurable business results.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a strategic HR partner to senior and operational leadership, aligning people strategies with business priorities and performance.
Lead organizational change and transformation initiatives, including organizational design, communication strategies, stakeholder alignment and management of resistance to change.
Strengthen organizational culture, leadership capability, employee engagement and accountability.
Lead strategic workforce planning, including labor forecasting, succession planning, talent pipelines, retention and critical skill development.
Lead employee and labor relations, including collective bargaining, union relationships, conflict resolution and complex employee matters.
Use HR, operational and financial metrics to identify workforce challenges and demonstrate HR’s impact on productivity, performance and profitability.
Ensure strong HR governance, compliance, ethics and adherence to Mexican labor requirements.
Drive continuous improvement of HR processes, systems and service delivery, including opportunities for automation and digitalization.
Build and develop a high-performing HR team capable of balancing strategic priorities with the operational needs of the business.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.
Progressive HR career experience with demonstrated growth across multiple HR disciplines and increasing leadership responsibility.
Manufacturing and/or automotive HR experience is required.
Demonstrated experience supporting plant operations and both hourly and salaried employee populations.
Proven experience personally leading organizational change, transformation and/or organizational design initiatives.
Strong strategic workforce planning, succession planning and talent management experience.
Significant employee and labor relations experience, including union and collective bargaining environments.
Strong business acumen with the ability to connect HR strategies and metrics to operational and financial performance.
Demonstrated ability to influence and partner with senior business leaders.
Strong knowledge of Mexican labor practices, compliance and employee relations.
Fluent Spanish and strong professional English communication skills.
Preferred
Multi-site or regional HR leadership experience.
Experience within a multinational or matrixed organization.
Experience leading HR digitalization, automation or continuous-improvement initiatives.
