Position Summary

The Buyer Planner is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end purchasing and inventory management for all direct spend related to packaging and dry ingredients. This mission-critical role ensures continuous material availability while maintaining lean inventory levels and supporting operational efficiency. Working closely with Production, Operations, suppliers, and warehouse teams, the Buyer/Planner proactively manages procurement activities, supplier relationships, and inventory planning to prevent disruptions and support business objectives. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, effective communication, sound judgment, and a continuous improvement mindset.

Schedule

  • 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM 
  • Monday-Friday

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage replenishment orders/inventory of boxes, bottles, caps, labels and dry ingredients to support production
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels to avoid shortages or overstocking
  • Manage current supplier relationships to ensure reliable and steadfast working partnerships and an effective/efficient communication flow
  • Collaborate with Production, Operations, and Warehouse teams to proactively identify and resolve material availability issues.
  • Monitor supplier performance related to delivery, quality, and service through weekly analysis of open inbound orders and supplier commitments.
  • Follow up with suppliers to confirm shipment status, resolve delivery issues, address performance concerns, and support continuity of supply.
  • Coordinate inventory movements between vendor and 3PL warehouses
  • Manage packaging and dry ingredient KPIs to track performance, inventory health, and support continuous improvement.
  • Manage MRP outputs in excel/ERP system to support material planning, purchasing decisions, and inventory accuracy.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Economics, Logistics, Engineering, or related field.

Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in Procurement, Supply chain and manufacturing is required.
  • CPG experience is required.

Knowledge

  • High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Excel, Outlook & Internet applications required.
  • Working knowledge of Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and the ability to verify that delivered products meet established specifications and acceptable tolerance ranges.
  • MRP experience required (NetSuite preferred).

Language Skills

  • Excellent professional oral, written and presentation communication skills.

Other Skills

  • Strong, professional and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Detailed understanding of accounting principles including Cash Flow, Profit and Loss statements, and Cost of Goods Sold
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, communicate, and execute detailed work plans that support operational improvement

  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail and deadlines
  • Ability to adapt well to change in direction and priority in a fast- paced and deadline-oriented environment

Major Business/Professional Contacts

  • Work cross-functionally with Production, Demand planner, and external Partners (Suppliers) to ensure on time delivery of inbounds.

Working and Environmental Conditions

  • Use of computer, keyboard, and telephone required.

  • Occasionally functions in the manufacturing environment where temperatures are around 35 degrees.

  • May be required to travel via car or airplane, up to 10% of the time, or as needed. Requires occasional work on nights and weekends.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.

  • Occasional lifting of equipment that may weigh up to 20 lbs.

  • Requires extended periods of sitting and working at a computer screen.
