Manager – R&D, Mobile Solutions
About this role
We are seeking an R&D Manager, Mobile Solutions to lead a mobile engineering team delivering high-quality applications and exceptional customer experiences. This role combines technical leadership, people management, operational excellence, customer engagement, and product innovation. The successful candidate will drive engineering best practices, oversee mobile application delivery, resolve complex customer issues, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing mobile engineering team.
Manage customer escalations, drive root cause analysis, and ensure timely resolution.
Establish engineering standards, development processes, and technical roadmaps.
Monitor and improve key metrics related to product quality, customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and team performance.
Mobile Solutions & Delivery
Provide technical leadership for iOS, Android, and cross-platform applications.
Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, maintainable, and aligned with business needs.
Partner with Product, Quality, Support, and R&D teams to deliver reliable customer-facing solutions.
Drive adoption of CI/CD, automated testing, code reviews, and DevOps best practices.
Balance strategic product development with operational support responsibilities.
AI & Innovation
Champion AI-assisted and agentic software development practices to improve productivity, quality, and delivery speed.
Promote responsible AI adoption through governance and engineering best practices.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
14+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years in an engineering leadership role.
Experience leading mobile development teams through the full software development lifecycle.
Strong knowledge of iOS and Android development, architecture, and deployment practices.
Experience with cloud-connected applications, APIs, and modern software architectures.
Hands-on experience with CI/CD, automated testing, DevOps, and quality engineering.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Flutter, React Native, Xamarin, or .NET MAUI.
Experience with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
Experience in healthcare, medical device, or other regulated environments.
Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
Technical Competencies
iOS (Swift, SwiftUI, Objective-C) and Android (Kotlin, Java) development
Mobile architectures including MVVM, Clean Architecture, and Dependency Injection
REST APIs, GraphQL, microservices, and cloud integration
CI/CD pipelines, release automation, and DevOps practices
Automated testing across unit, integration, UI, and end-to-end levels
Mobile security, privacy, authentication, and secure coding practices
AI-assisted software development and engineering productivity tools
Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe)
