The Industrial Engineer is a senior individual contributor responsible for designing and scaling operational systems that support network growth, acquisitions, and new warehouse launches. This role ensures that as the network expands, operational complexity and cost do not increase linearly with volume.

By leading network-wide initiatives and partnering across Operations, Continuous Improvement, Automation, and Finance, the Industrial Engineer develops standardized, data-driven operating models that enable efficient, repeatable growth.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design future-state layouts, labor models, and workflows for new sites and acquired operations, including capacity, staffing, and process flow assumptions

  • Lead industrial engineering workstreams for acquisitions and new warehouse launches from diligence through go-live

  • Own and drive network-wide initiatives focused on improving labor productivity, reducing cost per unit, and increasing process standardization

  • Develop, validate, and maintain engineered labor standards using time studies, historical data, and observed performance

  • Partner with LMS, Operations, and Finance to align labor planning inputs, performance reporting, and cost models

  • Identify systemic inefficiencies and scaling risks; design and implement solutions that prevent cost and complexity from increasing with volume

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in industrial engineering methodologies, including Lean and Six Sigma principles

  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to Continuous Improvement Engineers (CIEs), ensuring consistency in tools, methods, and outputs

  • Quantify and communicate network-level impact, including cost savings, cost avoidance, capacity unlocked, and productivity gains

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, or a related technical field

  • 4+ years of experience in industrial engineering, operations optimization, or warehouse design within distribution, manufacturing, or logistics environments

  • Experience building labor models, conducting time studies, and developing engineered labor standards using operational data

  • Experience supporting multi-site operations, including at least one of the following: network-level initiatives, warehouse launches, or operational integrations

  • Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets (e.g., pivot tables, lookups, basic modeling); experience analyzing large datasets to inform decisions

  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional projects with multiple stakeholders and delivering measurable outcomes (e.g., productivity improvement, cost reduction)

  • Familiarity with warehouse operations, including inbound, storage, picking, packing, and shipping processes

Bonus Points:

  • Prior startup experience, particularly in high-growth or rapidly scaling environments

  • Graduate-level degree in Engineering, Operations, Business Administration, or a related STEM field

This role offers relocation support, if required.

Company at a glance

Stord is the physical intelligence layer for independent commerce, giving brands the fulfillment network, software, AI, and robotics they need to own the entire relationship with their customer, from checkout to delivery to returns.

Prime reset what consumers expect from delivery, and every brand competing against it pays with margin, data, and the relationship with their own customer. Stord gives independent brands that same infrastructure advantage, without the trade-off. With Stord, brands grow revenue, reduce costs, and delight every customer they ship to.

Today Stord serves 1,000+ brands. Our network spans nearly 100 fulfillment locations worldwide, processes $15B+ in GMV annually, and reaches nearly one in four U.S. households.

Stord Labs, our physical intelligence lab in Atlanta, builds and tests AI and robotics on live orders before rolling proven systems out across the full network. The result is intelligence that compounds with every order that runs through it.

Backed by Kleiner Perkins, Founders Fund, Strike Capital, Franklin Templeton, and other leading investors, Stord has raised $250M in Series F equity funding at a $3B valuation.

The physical intelligence layer for independent commerce is here.

This is a place for people who want to work at the edge of commerce and applied AI on real, physical problems, not simulations. The pace is intense and the systems you ship move real freight for real brands within days. If you want to build the infrastructure that defines the next era of commerce, this is where you do it.
