About this role

We are seeking a Plant Modeling and Simulation Engineer to develop, validate, and maintain high-quality plant models supporting XIL, virtual validation, and system integration activities. This role focuses on building scalable, reusable models across multiple vehicle domains and ensuring alignment with system-level requirements and verification workflows.

The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams including system design, architecture, controls, and testing organizations to enable efficient virtual development and validation using model-based techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

Plant Model Development

  • Develop and maintain 0D/1D plant models representing physical systems (e.g., propulsion, chassis, ADAS, infotainment).
  • Ensure models meet appropriate fidelity levels depending on development phase (concept, design, integration, validation).
  • Perform model validation and correlation against requirements and test data.
  • Support model reduction and optimization for simulation efficiency.

Model-Based Development Support

  • Integrate plant models into XIL workflows and environments.
  • Support virtual testing, requirement validation, and system verification activities.
  • Collaborate with controls and system engineers to ensure alignment between plant models and control strategies.
  • Contribute to continuous integration pipelines for model development and validation.

Collaboration & Integration

  • Work with:
    • System and functional design teams
    • Architecture and simulation framework teams
    • Testing and validation teams
    • Suppliers and tool vendors
  • Ensure plant models:
    • Are compatible with simulation platforms
    • Support cross-domain integration
    • Enable efficient data exchange and reuse

Model Quality & Governance

  • Follow established modeling best practices and standards
  • Participate in:
    • Model reviews
    • Quality checks and validation processes
  • Maintain:
    • Model documentation
    • Version control and configuration management

Continuous Improvement

  • Support initiatives to improve:
    • Model fidelity and performance
    • Reusability and scalability
    • Simulation efficiency
  • Contribute to tool evaluation, benchmarking, and process enhancements
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in plant modeling, simulation, or V&V environments
  • Strong understanding of Model-Based Development (MBD) and virtual testing methods
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink or similar modeling tools
  • Knowledge of physical system modeling (0D/1D)
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools and methods
  • Experience in one scripting language


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in automotive OEM
  • Familiarity with xIL environments (MIL/SIL/HIL)
  • Understanding of automotive V&V processes and standards
  • Experience with:
    • Model validation and correlation
    • Variant/configuration management
    • Version control systems
  • Domain experience in:
    • Propulsion
    • ADAS
    • Chassis
    • Infotainment
