The Taxation Accountant Associate 1 role within Global Delivery will be responsible for preparing various Australian Tax reporting packages offered to clients, as well as maintaining records in our internally developed systems as well as third party platforms.

The role involves interaction with various units locally and overseas. The Associate 1 should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment. Accuracy, timeliness and delivery of client service are imperative in this position with increased focus towards quality controls, documentation and process improvements.

Responsibilities & Tasks Include:

  • Prepare periodic Tax distributions and Tax provision calculations:

  • Reconcile accounting records

  • Ensure that allocated client reporting is completed and submitted for review on a timely basis;

  • Maintain records on the taxation systems;

  • Maintain client details and specifics on allocated clients and incorporate these into the tax calculations;

  • Liaising with internal teams to obtain information where required;

  • Establish a strong working relationship with managers and peers within State Street;

  • Develop a sound understanding of all controls and procedures within the group and ensure that they are complied with;

  • Coordinate distribution of Tax distributions and Tax provision calculations. Assemble financial statements draft, all supporting documentation and calculations.

  • Coordinate the receipt of comments on Tax distributions and Tax provision calculations from external (and internal) parties. Ensure the timely research, resolution and processing of comments.

  • Test new applications and distribution templates. Identify and resolve issues as they arise. Suggest process improvements (enhanced automation, etc.)

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field

  • Taxation services experience highly regarded though not essential.

  • Willing to undertake CPA or CA or other relevant qualification

Skills/ Knowledge

  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and possess strong problem solving and resolution skills

  • Excellent PC skills (Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word)

  • Superior attention to detail, time management and organizational skills

  • Have mindset to continuous improve processes and action on it

  • Effective communication skills (oral and written)

  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities to meet internal and industry deadlines
