Role Purpose

The primary focus of a credit controller at Starr is to chase, monitor and report on overdue premium owed to Starr whilst liaising with the underwriting teams to ensure maximum efforts are taken to receive settlement. You will make use of internal and external systems to ensure terms are met by Brokers, to reduce aged debt and maximise cashflow, by adhering to Company procedures . Weekly reports will be prepared for senior management, and relationships built with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Chase, monitor and report upon overdue premiums to the Head of Credit Control.
  • Make use of X-changing systems and reporting to ensure Brokers are continuing to settle to the business in accordance with the rest of the Lloyds Market.
  • Monitor Aged Debt and react to changes and trends both internally and externally.
  • Build and retain relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Assist with and investigate any directly received cash in the bank accounts to establish allocation to policies.
  • Investigate initial booking of outstanding premium ensuring correct terms and settlement data is entered, to ensure accurate reporting and chasing for settlement.

Qualifications, skills and experience

Essential

  • Intermediate Excel capability (v-lookups, pivot tables, ability to interpret large data sets).
  • London Market credit control experience.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Well organised, with the ability to work well in a team as well as individually.

Desirable

  • Opportunity to develop skills in Excel capability.
  • Familiarity with Power BI to analyse and present meaningful data trends.
  • X-changing systems experience (Tracker, Account enquiry and IMR).
