Position Description

  • Assess the creditworthiness of new and existing reinsurers, risk groups, and intermediaries using financial analysis, rating agency reports, and industry data.
  • Apply Starr’s limit framework in accordance with the company’s risk appetite for facultative and treaty arrangements, while facilitating the timely processing of exception requests.

Prepare timely Committee meeting materials, including reviewing all submissions from Starr entities and identifying facultative exceptions that are either overlined or not on the Approved Security List.

  • Perform quarterly screening of reinsurers and intermediaries against OFAC sanctions lists and initiate requests to remove any flagged entities.
  • Maintain and update internal credit ratings and watchlists.
  • Support reinsurance collateral administration by monitoring trust account statements, tracking letters of credit (LOCs), and maintaining accurate collateral records.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of credit risk policies and procedures.
  • Track industry developments, rating agency updates, and regulatory changes affecting reinsurers.
  • Participate in system enhancements and process improvement initiatives. • Maintain audit-ready documentation for all reviewed submissions and approvals. Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in insurance or reinsurance preferred.
  • Knowledge of reinsurance structures (treaty, facultative, proportional, excess of loss) and insurance financial metrics (combined ratio, loss ratio, reserves).
  • Experience with credit ratings agencies (S&P, Moody’s, Fitch, AM Best).
  • High level of attention to detail, analytical judgment, and organizational skills. • Strong technical skills in data analysis and visualization, including Excel, SQL, and Power BI.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work cross-functionally.
