About this role

About Stark

Stark builds the world’s most powerful electric motorcycles. From the VARG MX to the road-legal VARG EX & SM, our bikes have won world championships and are engineered to outperform anything with a combustion engine.

We’re based in Sant Boi, Barcelona, growing fast (77% year-on-year), and building a team that will take us even further. If you want to work on a product that people are genuinely obsessed with, this is it.

Stark will become the global market leader in premium motorcycles. Building premium motorcycles requires innovation and we need your help to make us succeed

Our mission is to lead the way towards a sustainable motorcycle industry, by reducing plastic and CO2 pollution.

This will be achieved by building sustainable products that are superior to traditional technology in terms of Performance, Emotion and Design.

The Role

We are looking for a Process Engineer – Powertrain Assembly to join our growing “Production Process Development” team, reporting to the Head of Process Development Production. As an expert for assembly processes in powertrain assembly (high voltage battery, motor & inverter), you’ll be at the forefront of the creation of next-generation electric motorcycles, batteries and associated products.

You’ll be responsible for developing dedicated assembly processes for the powertrain — such as leak testing & coolant filling, end of line testing, potting, sealing, foaming, wire forming & stripping, laser welding of battery & stator, and magnetizing — taking them from prototype through to series production. Process qualification, validation and testing, including commissioning of the series production equipment, will be part of your responsibility. You’ll need to have hands-on experience developing complex assembly processes and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving, and highly innovative environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Be the technical lead in developing, selecting, testing and qualifying new assembly processes for battery/motor/inverter assembly, from prototype to series production

  • Install and develop new stable processes, including commissioning of the equipment and ramp-up support

  • Develop a robust process window for related processes in series production and provide a guideline to production

  • Define quality systems and inline quality measurement to control the process in series production, guaranteeing stable production and reducing scrap to a minimum

  • Set requirements for parts (surface properties, geometry, cleanliness) and process, and define specifications for machines, tools, materials and facilities

  • Define routines for operations and maintenance

  • Conceptualize, bring up, prototype, test and deliver related battery/motor/inverter production processes, R&D and in-line validation processes

  • Review and approve documentation including drawings, schematics, and detailed procedures

  • Ensure internal validation of the overall systems, support testing and analyses in other areas of engineering, and support the transition to the manufacturing line

  • Plan and assure that targets are achieved on time within the expected quality and costs, and consult Stark’s R&D on internal validation processes and design improvements for series production

What you will bring to Stark

  • Mechanical Engineering degree or similar

  • Deep experience in some of the following processes for battery/motor/inverter assembly: leak testing, coolant filling, end of line testing, potting, sealing, foaming, wire forming & stripping, laser welding of battery & stator, magnetizing

  • Experience in powertrain assembly

  • Experience developing related processes from scratch to series production

  • Experience in developing, testing and validating related assembly processes

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, ever-evolving, highly innovative environment (startups or high-tech companies)

  • High standards for yourself and everyone you work with, constantly looking for ways to innovate and improve product performance, quality and cost

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; fluent English is a must

Why work with us?

  • The chance to work on a product people are genuinely passionate about

  • A fast-growing company with real momentum

  • A creative, international team based in Barcelona

  • Competitive salary and benefits package

  • Direct access to riders, race teams, and the product — this is not a remote-from-the-product role

  • Subsidized lunch in our in house restaurant

  • Free access to our in-house gym (including weekends!)

  • 30 days of paid vacation
