Health & Safety Lead - Automotive Batteries

Sant Boi de Llobregat · On-site

About this role

About Stark

Stark builds the world’s most powerful electric motorcycles. From the VARG MX to the road-legal VARG EX & SM, our bikes have won world championships and are engineered to outperform anything with a combustion engine.

We’re based in Sant Boi, Barcelona, growing fast (77% year-on-year), and building a team that will take us even further. If you want to work on a product that people are genuinely obsessed with, this is it.

Stark will become the global market leader in premium motorcycles. Building premium motorcycles requires innovation and we need your help to make us succeed

Our mission is to lead the way towards a sustainable motorcycle industry, by reducing plastic and CO2 pollution.

This will be achieved by building sustainable products that are superior to traditional technology in terms of Performance, Emotion and Design.

The Role

You will be Stark’s first internal Health & Safety leader (Responsable de Prevención de Riesgos Laborales) — the owner of prevention across our factory and offices, and the foundation of the internal prevention service (servicio de prevención propio) we will constitute as we grow past 500 employees. You will report to the People Director and carry a mandate signed by leadership, including stop-work authority. You will set the prevention plan, drive it through the line, and manage our external prevention provider (SPA) as a technical partner. Safety at Stark will have your name on it.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the prevention plan: risk assessments, planning of preventive activity, and its execution across production, battery assembly, logistics, testing and offices

  • Investigate accidents and near-misses, drive corrective actions to closure, and report openly to leadership

  • Build and run the safety training matrix with HR, including mandatory PRL training by trade under the convenio del metal

  • Sit on the comité de seguridad y salud and work day-to-day with workers’ representatives (delegados de prevención)

  • Manage the external prevention service (SPA) contract - setting the agenda rather than following it

  • Run coordination of business activities (CAE) for contractors and visitors on site

  • Gate new equipment, process changes and chemical introductions: nothing is commissioned without a documented safety review

  • Own emergency plans and drills, and safety KPIs: frequency and severity rates, near-miss reporting, training completion, action closure

  • Prepare the constitution of the servicio de prevención propio and set the roadmap toward ISO 45001 certification

  • Manage relations with the labor authority and Inspección de Trabajo when required

What you will bring to Stark

  • Técnico Superior en Prevención de Riesgos Laborales holding at least two of the three technical specialties — Seguridad en el Trabajo, Higiene Industrial, Ergonomía y Psicosociología Aplicada. All three is a strong plus.

  • 5+ years in industrial manufacturing environments with battery or energy storage production at core

  • Track record of investigating serious incidents and dealing with Inspección de Trabajo

  • Experience with CAE platforms, machine safety (CE marking, RD 1215/1997) and ideally lithium battery or ATEX environments

  • ISO 45001 implementation or audit experience valued

  • Professional Spanish and English — you will work with the factory floor and an international engineering team

  • The character to stop a line, say why, and hold the standard when it is inconvenient

Why work with us?

  • A mandate signed by leadership: stop-work authority, direct escalation, and a safety budget — you will not be a recommendation-writer

  • The chance to build a prevention function from the ground up

  • The chance to work on a product people are genuinely passionate about

  • A fast-growing company with real momentum

  • A creative, international team based in Barcelona

  • Competitive salary and benefits package

  • Direct access to riders, race teams, and the product — this is not a remote-from-the-product role

  • Subsidized lunch in our in house restaurant

  • Free access to our in-house gym (including weekends!)

  • 30 days of paid vacation

At Stark, we don’t just accept difference—we celebrate it, we support it, and we thrive on it for the benefit of our employees, our products, and our community.

We are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees and welcome applications from everyone.
