Service Technician - Technology Products
About this role
The Service Technician I executes the setup, installation, and repair of electronic communication and surveillance systems for remote and field-based sites. This position provides field support for technology products such as communications and networked surveillance equipment. It requires hands-on technical skills, strong troubleshooting ability, and a customer-first attitude.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and repair communication systems. Including: mobile cellular communications equipment, wireless network products, and satellite equipment (e.g., PBX, modems, routers, satellite terminals, and hard-wired connections).
- Support maintenance and repair of surveillance systems including IP cameras, NVRs, and supporting powered components.
- Configure and troubleshoot network, telephony, and satellite terminal-related systems.
- Perform routine maintenance and system checks; complete field retrofits and upgrades.
- Communicate job progress and issues to customers, project managers, and management.
- Crosstrain and collaborate with additional field operations as required.
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of basic networking concepts and low-voltage systems.
- Familiarity with various Video Management Systems (VMS) and IP-based cameras.
- Ability to work independently or with minimal remote guidance.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong customer service orientation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and travel as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Training from a two-year vocational or technical program or equivalent field experience.
- 1–2 years of experience in surveillance, communications, or related low-voltage installation work.
