This position has 24 hour a day responsibility for daily operations, staffing, staff development (licensure, competency, orientation, etc.), communication, supplies, patient assignment, student rotations, department standards of care and procedures. Enforces the billing and documentation standards. Keeps the director and medical director informed and involved as appropriate. Able to provide direct patient care for patients’ ages neonate through geriatric as necessary and provide the appropriate educational opportunities as required for the department.
Position Requirements:
A: Licensure/Certification/Registration: Must have and maintain a Respiratory Care Practitioner License from the State of Georgia. It is the individual’s responsibility to meet all educational, ethical and moral qualifications necessary to maintain a license in good standing. Membership in a professional organization preferred.
B: Education: Must be a graduate of A.M.A. approved Respiratory Therapy program. Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist via the National Board of Respiratory Care. Must maintain BLS, ACLS and neonatal certifications. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
C: Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience as a Therapist. Management experience preferred.
D: Special Qualifications: Must be able to develop and implement a consistent program for quality assurance. Must be able to communicate and address concerns identified in a suitable manner. Must be
able to interact with Physicians, Patients, Family, Respiratory staff and ancillary staff. Communicates effectively with supervisors, physicians, employees and other departments. Deals with patients and staff in a caring, professional manner and encourages the same attitudes in his/her subordinates.
