Spencer Fane is seeking an experienced defense-side litigation attorney in Houston to join our team serving hospitals, healthcare providers, employers, and other institutional clients. This role handles cases from initial pleadings through trial, with direct client contact and opportunities for first-chair responsibility.
What youll do
- Defend hospitals, healthcare providers, employers, and institutional clients through every stage of litigation.
- Manage a diverse caseload across health law, premises defense, and employment litigation to resolution.
- Collaborate with partners and clients to develop and execute effective litigation strategy.
- Independently draft and argue motions, take and defend depositions, and manage all discovery.
- Lead case management from intake to trial, with opportunities for first-chair responsibility.
- Analyze complex legal and factual issues and clearly communicate them to clients and the legal team.
What Spencer Fane is looking for
- 7+ years of defense-side litigation experience
- Experience in health law, premises defense, or employment litigation
- JD from an ABA-accredited US law school
- Active Texas bar admission in good standing
- Located in or willing to relocate to Houston
- Familiarity with Texas state and federal court procedures
- Experience taking and defending depositions
- First-chair trial or significant hearing experience
- Meaningful law firm litigation experience
