Compensation & Schedule
- Starting Wage: $27.00/hour
- Night Shift Premium: Additional $1.30/hour
- Schedule: Rotating 3-2-2-3 schedule (3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off)
- Shift Time: Nights: 4:45 PM – 5:00 AM
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will support laboratory operations, quality systems, and process improvement initiatives throughout the casthouse operation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Perform laboratory testing, sample preparation, and analysis to support billet and slab casthouse operations
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment including spectrometers, optical microscopes, CNC machines, heat treat ovens, testing equipment, and material preparation tools
- Accurately document, report, and maintain product and process records to support traceability, quality standards, and compliance requirements
- Support manufacturing process improvement, statistical monitoring, and quality assurance initiatives across Production and Metallurgical teams
- Maintain laboratory procedures, work instructions, Measurement Assurance documentation, and ISO-related records
- Perform preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment and assist in maintaining clean, safe, and organized work areas
- Train and support team members on laboratory equipment, testing procedures, and safe work practices
- Assist with general laboratory operations including material handling and fork truck operation as needed
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for detail-oriented individuals who are motivated to learn, take ownership of their work, and thrive in a technical manufacturing environment.
Basic Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution
- Ability to safely use cutting and grinding equipment including saws, grinders, sanders, and related tools
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to work safely in an industrial laboratory and manufacturing environment
- Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline
- Prior laboratory or manufacturing testing experience
- Mechanical aptitude and computer proficiency
- Experience operating a Spectrometer and Optical Microscope
- Ability to learn and safely operate small machine tools and fork trucks
- Experience supporting quality systems and process improvement initiatives
- Familiarity with statistical monitoring and process capability methods
