About this role

Are you an experienced consultant who enjoys helping organisations solve complex challenges, deliver transformation and achieve lasting business outcomes?
At Sopra Steria's Aerospace, Defence and Security consulting practice, we're growing our team and looking for a Senior Business Consultant to support clients across business transformation and technology-enabled change. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse portfolio of public and private sector clients, helping them navigate change, improve performance and realise the benefits of new ways of working and emerging technologies.
As a generalist consultant, you'll work across a range of transformation disciplines, including business analysis, process improvement, target operating model design, change management, customer experience, automation, workforce planning and data-driven decision making. You'll collaborate closely with clients and colleagues, building trusted relationships while delivering meaningful outcomes in complex environments.
We operate in a predominantly in-person delivery model. This role requires regular travel to client locations across the South of England and the M4 corridor, with consultants typically spending two to three days per week on client sites or in Sopra Steria offices. To support this requirement, you'll need to be located within reasonable travelling distance of these locations.
What you'll be doing:
  • Delivering workstreams across business transformation and technology-enabled change programmes, ensuring agreed scope, quality, timescales and financial objectives are achieved.
  • Facilitating workshops and stakeholder interviews, translating outcomes into clear deliverables including requirements, process maps, target operating model artefacts and recommendations.
  • Gathering and analysing data and evidence to identify insights, solve business challenges and produce high-quality client-ready outputs.
  • Building and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships while managing risks, issues and dependencies to support successful delivery outcomes.
  • Supporting business development activities through proposals, reusable consulting assets, case studies and proposition development.
  • Coaching colleagues, sharing knowledge and acting as an ambassador for the Aerospace, Defence and Security consulting practice and Sopra Steria.
What you'll bring:
  • Current Ministry of Defence Security Check clearance and eligibility to undergo Developed Vetting where required.
  • Experience delivering business transformation, organisational change or technology-enabled change initiatives.
  • Knowledge of consulting approaches, business analysis, process improvement and transformation methodologies within complex environments.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to structure problems, develop practical recommendations and communicate findings clearly.
  • Experience engaging and influencing stakeholders across multiple levels within client organisations.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, with the ability to produce high-quality documents, presentations and analysis.
It would be great if you had:
  • Existing Ministry of Defence Developed Vetting clearance.
  • Experience within Aerospace, Defence, Secure Government or wider public sector environments.
  • Experience supporting bids and proposals, including developing approaches, plans and supporting materials.
  • Professional certifications such as BCS Business Analysis, Agile, PRINCE2 or Lean Six Sigma.
  • Awareness of Portfolio, Programme and Project Management Maturity Model, business case development or benefits realisation approaches.
  • Experience working independently on client sites and representing a consulting practice in customer-facing environments.
If you're interested in this role but not sure if your skills and experience are exactly what we're looking for, please do apply, we'd love to hear from you!
