Catalogue Growth & Commercial Manager
About this role
What you'll do:
- Works independently as well as closely with various departments within Malaysia, the Asia Pacific region and external partners to support both Catalogue/Ops and Commercial Growth priorities.
- Manages backend catalogue ingestion, optimization and digital supply chain workflows for acquired, legacy and M&A-related assets, covering product registration, metadata validation, delivery, scheduling, quality control, digitisation and operational readiness across DSPs, video platforms and partner services.
- Supports M&A evaluation and due diligence by reviewing sales and performance reports, validating catalogue data and coordinating asset submission requirements for potential acquisition opportunities, including audio, video, metadata, artwork, rights documentation and related historical materials where applicable.
- Supports Sony Music Malaysia’s commercial growth initiatives across D2C and e-commerce for artist merchandise and physical products, website upkeep and optimisation, AVOD and channel monetisation, and wider catalogue commercialisation opportunities.
- Analyses and optimizes performance across Spotify, YouTube, YouTube Music, AVOD and other partner services by improving metadata, release setup, content packaging, channel hygiene, discoverability and audience signals to strengthen algorithmic performance, engagement and revenue.
- Tracks and reports catalogue, website, D2C and partner platform performance, supports SEO and discoverability improvements, and identifies actionable optimization opportunities to improve long-tail catalogue value and monetisation outcomes.
- Assists the team in solving operational and platform issues when required, including metadata mismatches, DSP mapping issues, delivery issues, rights conflicts, YouTube blockage issues and other backend or optimization-related matters.
Who you are:
- Bachelor’s degree in music business, digital business, marketing, e-commerce, media, analytics, business management or any related field is preferred.
- At least 4-6 years of relevant work experience for Senior Executive level, or stronger experience for Manager level, across digital operations, catalogue management, digital marketing, e-commerce, analytics, SEO, AVOD or related commercial digital functions.
- Strong understanding of digital music and video ecosystems, DSP servicing, metadata, platform workflows and catalogue optimization; familiarity with D2C, website management, SEO and analytics is an added advantage.
- Able to review and interpret sales and performance data, with an understanding of discoverability drivers, partner platform best practices and optimization levers across Spotify, YouTube, YouTube Music, AVOD and similar services.
- Extremely detail-oriented and organized, capable of managing multiple workflows and timelines, while being proactive, commercially aware, adaptable and confident working cross-functionally in a fast-moving environment.
