Value Engineering Project Director
We are seeking an experienced Value Engineering (VE) Project Director to join our team in Singapore. In this pivotal role, you will lead the optimisation of our medical device products, components, and manufacturing processes by driving structured initiatives that balance cost, quality, and performance.
You will serve as the central hub connecting R&D, Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, Quality, and Regulatory Affairs. More about the role:
- Program Leadership: Own the end-to-end VE pipeline from ideation to implementation, ensuring projects are tracked and deliver measurable savings.
- Cost Analysis: Analyse product BOMs and manufacturing processes using Should-Cost modelling and Design-to-Cost (DTC) principles to identify and quantify financial opportunities.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with R&D and Manufacturing to evaluate design alternatives, and work with Regulatory and Quality teams to ensure compliance with ISO 13485, FDA, and CE standards.
- Execution & Change Management: Drive projects through stage-gate processes, overseeing engineering changes, validation plans, and qualifications prior to production release.
More about you:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, etc.). MBA or advanced degree is an advantage.
- Experience: 15 years minimum in value engineering, product cost management, or engineering project management within the medical device or a similarly regulated industry.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in BOM analysis, cost modelling, DFM/DFA, and lean principles. Working knowledge of ISO 13485 QMS and Design Control (21 CFR Part 820 / MDSAP).
- Tools: Experience with PLM and ERP platforms (e.g., SAP, Windchill) and advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
- Certifications (Preferred): PMP, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt / Black Belt.
