POSITION DESCRIPTION: Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Application Engineer; Bearing Products will be responsible for assessing the potential application of company products or services and offering solutions that meet customer needs. Working in tandem with the sales team, the ideal candidate will collaborate on projects, researching the benefits of purchasing company products or services. The Application Engineer will leverage their strong communication and relationship building skills to present their recommendations and provide applicable technical training to clients. Preferred location would be in Charlotte, NC, however we are open to this position being remote

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work with product engineers on product specifications, manufacturability, and other technical product aspects and assist in product development
  • Perform basic engineering calculations, as required by the customer, or engineering department
  • Consult with customers regarding technical inquiries, via telephone or email, and assist customers and sales reps with product selection, and design by providing technical product expertise and 2D drawings or 3D models
  • Support engineering team by creating drawings, models, and customizing products
  • Confidently discuss projects with customers to determine their needs and aid the sales team
  • Demonstrate and train customers bearing and power transmission product basics, virtually or onsite
  • Assist in quoting special projects and modified standard units
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferably BSME
  • Mechanical engineering experience
  • Experience with bearings and mechanical power transmission products and solutions
  • Proficiency in 2D drawing software and 3D modeling software (Preferably SolidWorks)
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations such as moment analysis on 2D systems, thermal expansion, bearing service life, as well as other standard engineering calculations
  • Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) implementation experience
  • Ability to travel as necessary (30%)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Sales experience
  • Experience having facilitated technical training
