SUMMARY:  Responsible for the design and development of new and existing product. Identify opportunities and develop new concepts with emphasis on manufacturability, customer satisfaction, project timeframes, and potential profitability of designs. Project plans, schedules, progress, expenditures and priorities are regularly reviewed to ensure goals are being met.  Primary interface with marketing and manufacturing.

Responsibilities

KEY TASKS

·         Integrate CATIA capable CAD/CAM technologies with new forge die designs. This includes complex 3D surface modeling and NC set generation and data management appropriate to the above tasks.

·         Develop programs for the CNC die sinking equipment from CAD/CAM system, complete with detailed tool list and related documentation.

·         Directly program CNC die sinking equipment for simple machining.

·         Purpose new die materials as part of development

·         Instruct and assist production personnel in efficient tooling and manufacturing applications, troubleshooting as required (die performance, CNC mills efficiency).

·         Work with appropriate engineering personnel to create drawing packages for each new product as they pertain to die and tooling design.

·         Maintain CNC program files.

·         Maintain die and/or tooling design files.

·         Other projects and duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

·         High school plus 2-year technical degree in CAD/CAM or related field of study; or equivalent works experience.

·         Excellent computer skills.

·         Proficient in verbal and written communication on PC related information for end users.

·         Proficient in Microsoft Software – past, present (and future) versions.
