Heavy Equipment Technician, Journeyperson

As a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician with SMS Equipment, you'll support customers across Northern British Columbia, working on a diverse range of mining, forestry, construction, and utility equipment.

Base Wage: $52.31 per hour. Additional premiums will apply. 
Location: Prince George, BC 
Schedule: 14x14 

* Premiums may bring total compensation to approximately $58.81 per hour depending on schedule. Additional assignment-based allowances may apply. 

What You'll Do 

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems on heavy mining and construction equipment. 
• Perform preventive maintenance, component replacements, overhauls, and new equipment builds. 
• Use computerized and manual diagnostic tools to identify equipment issues and complete repairs efficiently. 
• Conduct inspections and identify repair requirements to help minimize equipment downtime. 
• Work independently in remote field environments while maintaining high standards of safety and workmanship. 
• Contribute to safe work practices and continuous improvement initiatives across the site 

What You Bring 

You bring Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification with Interprovincial Red Seal endorsement, along with strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills and a commitment to performing safe, quality work in demanding field environments. 

• Valid Class 5 driver's license. 
• Willingness to travel as required. 
• Ability to work independently in remote field conditions while maintaining a safety-first approach. 

This position is classified as an Individual Contributor role in SMS Equipment's competency framework, requiring demonstration of core competencies (customer focus, collaboration, and technical/functional expertise).
