Power Equipment Operator- 2nd Shift

PURPOSE

The purpose of the Power Equipment Operator position is to safely perform all material handling tasks requiring the use of Powered Industrial Equipment. The position is responsible for completing the fulfillment of customer orders – with or without the use of power equipment (such as forklifts, swing reach trucks or order pickers) – as directed through work instruction.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Operate Man Up power equipment for a minimum of 75% of shift hours
  • Ensure respective area and equipment is compliant with 5S standards
  • Process all tasks associated with established customer order fulfillment standards as distributed by management
  • Adherence to all department work instructions
  • Execute basic to advanced work flow tasks on established WMS/ERP SMC systems
  • Report all inventory discrepancies to management
  • Adherence to all safety rules and regulations
  • Adherence to all Quality Management system standards and policies
  • Ability to meet established productivity and quality standards
  • All other duties as assigned

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Physical demands require the person to regularly stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms.
  • The position requires an OSHA-approved self-rescue safety harness (weighing 15 pounds) be worn at all times while operating equipment
  • The person is frequently required to lift 25 pounds or greater, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Must be able to effectively communicate (reading, writing, speaking) with command of the English language
  • The work environment will expose employee to the following elements: Noise, Heat, Cold, Dust, and heights
  • Must be able to operate power equipment for long periods while maintaining focus and concentration

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must pass SMC’s written and practical powered equipment certification training
  • Prior experience in a warehouse environment desirable
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Ability to effectively communicate.  Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Basic computer and RF Scanner skills preferred
