Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Technical Director to join our established Process Engineering team, delivering high-profile projects across the bioenergy, anaerobic digestion (AD), biomethane, energy from waste (EfW), recycling and circular economy sectors.

You'll lead the origination, development and delivery of projects from concept through to commissioning, working closely with clients, funders, contractors and multidisciplinary teams. The role includes:

  • Originating and leading bioenergy, anaerobic digestion, biomethane and EfW projects across the full project lifecycle
  • Delivering concept designs, feasibility studies, technical assessments and technical due diligence assignments
  • Developing client relationships, preparing proposals and supporting business development activities
  • Leading, mentoring and developing engineers and consultants within the team
  • Supporting procurement, contract management, construction, commissioning and operational troubleshooting activities
  • A combination of office, home-based and site-based work across the UK and occasionally internationally

You'll collaborate with colleagues across Process Engineering, Advisory, Environmental Management & Compliance, Land & Water, and Environmental Specialist Services, on complex and impactful projects, with opportunities for UK and international exposure.

About You

  • Extensive experience within anaerobic digestion (AD), biomethane, energy from waste (EfW), waste processing, recycling or related sectors
  • A degree in Engineering, Biochemistry or a related discipline
  • Proven experience originating, winning and managing technical projects within consultancy, operational or construction environments
  • Experience delivering concept designs, feasibility studies, technical assessments, due diligence and contract management activities
  • Strong numeracy, data analysis and financial modelling capabilities
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint, with strong technical report-writing skills
  • Experience leading and mentoring multidisciplinary engineering or consultancy teams
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and business development skills
  • Chartered Engineer status or progress towards chartership (desirable)
  • A relevant Master's degree (desirable)
  • Experience working on site, including H&S and CDM Regulations (desirable)
  • A driving licence that permits you to legally drive in the UK is required for site visits
