Senior EIA Consultant

London · Hybrid

About this role

SLR is a global leader in sustainability solutions, working with clients to help make sustainability happen, within a collaborative, people-first culture.

Following recent significant contract wins in the Built Environment sector, SLR has an opportunity for an experienced and motivated professional to join us as a Senior EIA Consultant in our London office. This role offers the opportunity to lead and contribute to EIAs on a wide range of urban regeneration projects across the UK.

The role

This is an exciting opportunity for a technically proficient and commercially-minded EIA specialist with experience in Built Environment projects, such as estate regenerations, urban extensions, strategic land developments, mixed-use town centre schemes, and industrial and logistics schemes, including data centres. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the preparation of fee proposals
  • Authoring screening requests, scoping requests, Environmental Statements, ES Addenda and ES Reviews
  • Acting as the day-to-day contact with clients and technical consultant teams
  • Maintaining strong relationships with existing clients in the Built Environment sector
  • Representing SLR at industry conferences and events

You will report to and work closely with our London EIA Lead, and will be part of the wider EIA – South team, currently operating out of London, Bristol, Stoke and Birmingham.

As part of our national planning and ESIA team, you will have the opportunity to work with and learn from our team of highly experienced professionals, with opportunities to work occasionally within other sectors (e.g. renewables).

About you

We are looking for someone with experience in successfully managing and coordinating EIAs for complex urban development projects. Your strong communication skills, coupled with your technical knowledge, will mean you can successfully engage and build trust with senior colleagues, clients and other stakeholders.

You will also have experience working with more junior colleagues, helping to train them and support their development and effectively delegating to them. Due to the multi-disciplinary nature of SLR, you would be proficient in cross-selling the various environmental and planning services that we offer, whether that be through proposals, building of client relationships or at networking events.

Given your level of experience, you are likely to be at least a practitioner member of ISEP (or other relevant professional body) and be working towards full membership and/or chartership.

Company at a glance

SLR is a committed partner in our clients’ sustainability journeys.

We help them move from influence to impact, turning intent into purposeful, practical action that delivers real-world results.

Guided by our philosophy of Rational Sustainability, we focus on what truly drives long-term value. By viewing decisions through the lenses of risk, reward, and resilience, we help clients act with confidence, balancing environmental and social responsibility with commercial and strategic success.

Our purpose - Making Sustainability Happen - means delivering outcomes that are grounded in evidence, shaped by experience, and built to last.
SLR has been advising clients for over 30 years at every point of their project life-cycle. Starting as a UK business, we now operate as a global company with more than 4,500 people delivering client solutions across six regions. We have grown both organically and through welcoming other like-minded businesses with a similar One Team culture into the SLR group. We are ably supported by our principal investor, Ares Management, and will continue to build a balanced, successful and growing business.

We’ve designed working life at SLR to look a little different. Because we know talented people often feel restricted by the rigid systems, lack of cross-functional collaboration and limited options for growth on offer elsewhere.
Our One Team culture promotes meaningful professional and personal growth, our flat management structure provides many opportunities to progress, and our collaborative approach means you’ll get the chance to work on projects you care about and make a real difference.

If you’re purpose-driven, self-motivated and keen to make an impact on a global scale, we want to hear from you.
