About this role

As a Resident Engineer/Chief Inspector you will provide oversight services for a variety of infrastructure projects in scope and size from road reconstruction projects to complex bridge replacement projects across Connecticut.

In this role, you’ll lead field inspection teams, ensure compliance with contract requirements and provide expert oversight on construction infrastructure projects with a specific project focus on Connecticut Department of Transportation (CT DOT).

  • The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $130,000. Final agreed upon compensation will be commensurate with individual education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and location.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide Chief Inspector/Senior Inspector services for CT DOT Construction Inspection Projects

  • Review of contract documents

  • Coordinate with clients and contractors

  • Prepare records for oversight of construction projects including daily inspection reports, testing protocols and the CT DOT five volume system for record keeping

  • Prepare for and run meetings

  • Develop and maintain project records throughout construction

  • Prepare estimates and change orders

  • Monitor, manage and execute necessary material testing

  • Prepare project correspondence

  • Review subordinate inspection staff work including daily reports, computations, testing results, correspondence

  • Coordinate with utility companies and various agencies of the industry as necessary

  • Prepare for and present at interviews for future work


Qualifications/Education/Memberships:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or related engineering disciplines, NICET Certifications with complementary experience will also be considered

  • 5+ years of experience inspecting and administering water, wastewater, process or industrial construction projects

  • 5+ years of experience inspecting and administrating CT DOT construction projects, and/or a combination of municipal and CT DOT experience will also be considered a plus

  • Familiarity with standard inspection processes, documentation and management typical of DOT or public agency funded projects

  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Certification will be considered a plus

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

  • NETTCP Concrete and HMA Certifications Preferred

  • NETTCP Quality Assurance Technologist certification a plus

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and/or projects with varying types of construction projects throughout Connecticut and nearby states

  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities

  • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage work

  • Manage and provide direction to team members

  • Excellent written and communication skills
