About this role

About Us

Skift is the leading business intelligence and media company in travel, delivering news, research, and global events that power smarter decisions across the industry. We convene senior leaders and innovators who rely on Skift for clarity, insight, and meaningful connection in a fast-moving global market.

The Opportunity

Skift is hiring a driven, marketing-savvy Membership Marketing Lead to help grow our flagship executive community, Women Leading Travel. We're looking for someone who can balance strategic ownership — building a membership marketing engine focused on growth and retention — with hands-on execution of the day-to-day member experience. You'll shape campaigns, write the messaging behind them, dig into performance data, and adjust quickly based on what you learn. This is a chance to help scale a purpose-driven global brand under the banner of one of travel media's most trusted names. We're prioritizing candidates based in Canada.

Why This Role Matters

Women Leading Travel is the leading executive network for women in travel and hospitality. The Membership Marketing Lead sits at the center of its growth — part strategist, part builder. You'll stand up a marketing function that hasn't existed here before in a dedicated capacity: designing how we attract new members, how we keep them engaged long-term, and how we tell WLT's story to both prospects and current members. Your work turns WLT's strong foundation into a genuinely thriving, globally connected community inside Skift. It's a role suited to someone who builds systems, communicates with precision, and tracks outcomes closely.

Some of What You'll Do

Growth Strategy & Campaign Execution

  • Own WLT's membership marketing strategy worldwide, building multi-channel campaigns (email, social, partnerships) aimed at growing membership and lowering churn.
  • Design and refine lead nurture flows, running ongoing tests on messaging, cadence, and offers to lift conversion.
  • Monitor and report on core metrics — conversion, opens, renewals — using that data to sharpen strategy and tailor outreach across the member journey.

Member Engagement & Retention

  • Manage the entire member lifecycle, from application and onboarding through ongoing engagement and renewal.
  • Run recruitment campaigns and keep a forward-looking retention calendar that flags upcoming renewals early enough to act on them.
  • Draft monthly member communications and partner updates that reinforce WLT's value and keep the community engaged.

Messaging, Events & Analytics

  • Build out WLT's messaging playbook — recruitment and retention copy across email, landing pages, and reporting that clearly shows ROI.
  • Run the Member Ambassador Program and regional meetups, including venue coordination, folding event marketing into the broader growth strategy.
  • Maintain CRM dashboards that give leadership visibility into pipeline and retention health, working closely with cross-functional partners along the way.

What You'll Bring

  • 3–5 years in membership, community management, marketing, or client success, ideally in media, associations, or events.
  • A track record of designing and running marketing campaigns with measurable acquisition and retention results.
  • Strong writing chops — you can turn out a persuasive outreach email, a tight value proposition, and a subject line that gets opened.
  • Hands-on experience with CRM tools (HubSpot preferred), marketing automation platforms, and building nurture sequences or conversion funnels.
  • Comfort working with data — pulling reports, spotting trends, and turning numbers into next steps.
  • Strong organizational instincts, able to juggle multiple campaigns, regional events, and outreach cycles at once.
  • A self-directed approach, comfortable owning high-visibility programs independently in a remote, async-first environment.

Success Metrics

  • Pipeline Growth: A steadily growing pipeline of qualified prospects, driven by campaigns you've built and run.
  • Member Retention: Strong renewal rates, an active retention calendar, and measurable churn reduction over time.
  • Marketing Impact: Healthy open, conversion, and engagement rates that reflect sharp targeting and strong copy.
  • Network Participation: Strong turnout and positive feedback from regional meetups and the Member Ambassador Program.
  • Program Execution: Clean, data-informed management of the member lifecycle, CRM systems, budget, and cross-team collaboration.

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to grow within a respected and innovative media company.
  • Exposure to the intersection of media, events, and travel intelligence.
  • Collaborative, supportive, and remote-friendly work environment.
