About SiTime

SiTime is the Precision Timing company.

Timing is the heartbeat of all electronics, ensuring performance, resilience and scalability. For decades, quartz devices, non-silicon technology, have kept systems in sync, but they struggle in harsher, more demanding environments. MEMS-based Precision Timing delivers greater accuracy, smaller size and resilience. Today, MEMS timing powers over 400 applications, including high-growth ones in AI datacenters, automated driving, industrial and humanoid robots, wearables and IoT.

Our semiconductor MEMS programmable solutions offer a rich feature set that enables customers to differentiate their products with higher performance, smaller size, lower power, and better reliability. With more than 4 billion devices shipped, SiTime is changing the timing industry. For more information, visit: www.sitime.com.

Job Summary

The Principal Test Development Engineer is the main focal point in the development of a test solution, capable of deciding the technical direction and strategy of the test design and its implementation. He is responsible for developing hardware and software solutions for SiTime’s precision timing devices. From the initial product development kickoff through end-of-life, the ATE Test Development Engineer defines ATE test hardware and software and supports the launch of new products into high-volume production. This includes board-level hardware design, algorithm development, software implementation, and validation on both custom and standard automated test equipment (ATE) platforms.

Responsibilities:

Test Solution Development

  • Define the ATE test flow and test plan for new products
  • Engage with design team on Design for Test (DFT) features
  • Develop, validate, and release production test software for standard mixed-signal ATE platforms such as Teradyne Eagle Test Systems (ETS-88).
  • Provide critical inputs in the development of the test hardware from block diagram definition, schematic drafting, layout considerations, assembly, and verification.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) activities by developing test methodologies and qualification or characterization plans.
  • Participate in test program debugging, optimization, and correlation activities.
  • Improve test coverage, test time efficiency, and manufacturability to support high-volume production.
  • Lead release-to-production activities, including support for high-volume production.

Test Hardware & System Integration

  • Assist in the design, validation, and qualification of DUT boards, interface hardware, load boards, and test fixtures.
  • Support hardware bring-up, system integration, and debugging activities.
  • Perform tester-to-tester, site-to-site, and platform correlation studies.
  • Conduct engineering evaluations and characterize test system performance.

Validation & Change Management

  • Support validation of hardware and software changes for test systems.
  • Execute qualification plans and document results for test releases.
  • Ensure all changes comply with engineering and quality requirements.
  • Maintain test documentation, procedures, and release records.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Product Engineering, Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Equipment Engineering, and OSAT partners.
  • Support technical discussions, design reviews, and test strategy development.
  • Participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.

Technical Leadership

  • Serve as the technical lead of a project, providing guidance and assistance in technical discussions
  • Mentor and train junior engineers, associates, and technicians

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Minimum of a BS degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • At least eight years of related work experience as an individual contributor focusing on key technical areas.
  • Background in ATE development for mixed-signal ICs, including hands-on experience with ATE platforms such as Teradyne's ETS-364, ETS-88, or UltraFLEX is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of analog electronics and experience with board-level troubleshooting and debugging.
  • Experience in statistical analysis of test data.
  • Hands-on experience with electronics lab instrumentation; prior experience with metrology systems for evaluating timing parameters is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent programming skills and prior experience with C++.

It is not necessary to meet all job requirements to be a qualified candidate for the position.

Desired Characteristics & Attributes:

  • High level of self-motivation and drive to make an impact.
  • Strong interpersonal and mentorship skills for engineers on the team.
  • Strong sense of ownership, drive for results, and ability to bring items to the finish line.
  • Strong interest in being hands-on in the lab.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a highly collaborative, fast-paced team environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Positive attitude and motivation to learn new skills.
