Head of Engineering

We are looking for a senior technology leader to take full ownership of engineering and data functions at a fast-growing, mission-driven digital platform. This is an executive-level role, sitting within the leadership team and shaping the company's technology trajectory from the ground up. 

You will build on established systems and teams, scaling what works, introducing stronger operating rigor, and ensuring the platform grows sustainably in line with the company's ambitions around reliability, performance, and regulatory compliance. The platform serves users in Southeast Asia and operates in a regulated, data-sensitive environment. Experience in health, insurance, fintech, or any domain that demands high standards of data protection and compliance will be an advantage. 

This is a remote role based in India. You will operate as an embedded leader within a client's executive team, working closely with their CEO and senior leadership to shape and execute the technology agenda. Expect a high-trust, high-autonomy setup where outcomes matter more than hours, and where your judgment will carry real weight from day one.

As Director of Technology, you will be accountable for the following:

Product and Platform

• Build and continuously improve products serving both external users and internal teams, ensuring strong user experience, scalability, and measurable business impact
  

• Set clear technology direction and align engineering and data roadmaps with company strategy and business priorities
  

Architecture and Infrastructure

• Oversee system architecture and cloud infrastructure, ensuring reliability, scalability, performance, and cost efficiency as the company grows
  

• Guide key technology decisions across platform architecture, cloud providers, and engineering practices with sufficient hands-on depth to earn engineering team trust
  

Data and Decision Enablement

• Leverage data to inform product strategy, operational improvements, and executive decision-making
  

• Strengthen analytics capabilities to create visibility across business and operational metrics
  

Security, Compliance, and Reliability

• Ensure strong security, privacy, and compliance practices, especially in environments handling sensitive personal and health-related data
  

• Implement data protection, access governance, and audit frameworks aligned with applicable regulatory requirements
  

Team Leadership and Organisational Development

• Develop and scale high-performing teams across engineering and data functions
  

• Hire, coach, and support senior managers and technical leads to build a strong leadership layer beneath you
  

• Establish clear operating rhythms, performance frameworks, and technical standards
  

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Drive alignment between technology, operations, finance, and business teams
  

• Translate complex technical topics into clear strategic decisions for leadership stakeholders
  

• Oversee internal tooling, IT systems, and infrastructure so every team can operate efficiently and reliably.
  

• Lead initiatives to improve developer workflows by identifying opportunities to apply AI tools, automation, and intelligent systems that increase engineering productivity, reduce manual effort, and improve delivery quality.
