Welding Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY
Contract Review; qualify and maintain Welders, Welding Operators; develop Welding Procedures and techniques that align to customer requirement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform Contract Review, Review Customer Specifications and Code restrictions and develop Weld procedures specific to the project requirement.
- Oversee& guide Welding Inspectors for Codes, Standards and Customer requirements, assist in preparing Weld Procedures.
- Qualify Welders and Welding Operators by ASME Section IX/AWS D1.1and Customer requirements.
- Develops welding techniques, procedures, and application of welding equipment to problems involving fabrication of metals, utilizing knowledge of production specifications, properties and characteristics of metals and metal alloys, and engineering principles.
- Conduct research and development investigations to develop and test new fabrication processes and procedures, improve existing or develop new welding equipment, develop new or modify current welding methods, techniques, and procedures, discover new patterns of welding phenomena, or to correlate and substantiate hypotheses.
- Establishes welding procedures to guide production and welding personnel relating to specification restrictions, material processes, pre- and post-heating requirements which involve use of complex alloys, unusual fabrication methods, welding of critical joints, and complex post heating requirements.
- Evaluates new developments in welding field for application to current welding problems or production processes.
- Coordinates with the various Welding Laboratories to get the welding procedure tested and to ensure that the testing is in compliance with the applicable codes.
- Contacts personnel of other agencies, engineering personnel, or clients to exchange ideas, information, or offer technical advice concerning welding matters.
- May perform experimental welding to evaluate new equipment, techniques, and materials.
- Maintain the welder continuity log by the applicable qualification codes.
- Perform Surveillance check on the production welds to ensure the welds are in compliance with the welding procedure specification.
- Participate in weekly review of jobs and other job-related meetings.
- Notify the Production department about the performance of Welders/Welding operators every week.
- Review the Job Instructions sheet from Welding perspective.

Education: Master’s degree in Welding Engineering or Material Science and Engineering and minimum two years’ related experience.
Experience: 2-3 years’ related experience
