OVERALL DESCRIPTION

As an experienced Elevator/Escalator Repairperson, troubleshoots, inspects, tests, repairs, adjusts, assembles and disassembles elevators, escalators, and similarly related equipment and their related parts and components.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Be proficient in the installation, maintenance, testing, repair, and adjustments of elevators, escalators, and similarly related equipment and their related parts and components.
  2. Must be familiar with diagnostic software, microprocessors, and PLC logic controls. 
  3. Reads various control schematics and identifies each component and understands their function.
  4. Inspects, disassembles, installs, and tests motor controls and all components on escalators, elevators, or similar related equipment.
  5. Searches for and diagnoses malfunctions in elevator/escalator systems, inspects, adjusts maintains hydraulic, mechanical and electrical components installed in elevators and escalators. Troubleshoots and repairs hydraulic, electrical/electronic/mechanical problems relating to elevators and escalators. Troubleshoots and repairs controller and/or components.
  6. Complies with all Authority and departmental safety and security policies and procedures as well as all applicable job safety responsibilities. Reports any safety concerns, compromises or hazards affecting operations, the public, self and/or other employees. Responsible for personal safety and is encouraged to promote the safety of others.

ADDITIONAL SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus two years technical electro-mechanical discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • Must have three (3) years of relevant work experience. Trade school curriculum may be substituted for up to one year of experience.
  • Must have valid driver's license. 
  • Must pass pre-employment written test.
