About this role

As an ICU Consultant, you will hold ultimate clinical responsibility for the management of patients with life-threatening conditions and multi-organ failure. You will lead a dedicated multidisciplinary team, perform advanced bedside procedures, and coordinate critical care delivery across the hospital.

  • Critical Patient Management: Direct the resuscitation, stabilization, and daily management of patients with severe sepsis, trauma, ARDS, multi-organ failure, and complex post-operative needs.
  • Advanced Organ Support: Oversee advanced life-support modalities, including mechanical ventilation, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), vasoactive management, and ECMO (if applicable).
  • Bedside Procedures: Perform and supervise emergency and routine invasive procedures (e.g., endotracheal intubation, central venous and arterial line placements, chest tubes, bronchoscopy).
  • Team Leadership: Lead daily clinical rounds, mentoring and supervising ICU specialists, residents, fellows, and advanced practice nursing staff.
  • Family & Palliative Care: Conduct empathetic, clear family conferences regarding complex prognoses, treatment goals, and end-of-life or palliative care paths.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Coordinate closely with surgical, medical, and diagnostic specialties to ensure rated patient care.

Education: Medical Degree (MD / MBBS or equivalent) with formal, accredited residency and subspecialty Fellowship training in Intensive Care / Critical Care Medicine.

Certifications: Active board certification or highest-tier specialist qualification (e.g., UK CCT/EDIC, American Board of Critical Care Medicine, FRCPC, European Board, or equivalent).

Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of post-qualification experience practicing independently as an ICU Consultant in a high-acuity tertiary care hospital.

Licensing: Eligible for or currently holding a valid Consultant medical license e.g., DHA, MOH, SCFHS, GMC).

Key Skills: Mastery of Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS/ECHO), advanced hemodynamic monitoring, rapid critical decision-making, and exceptional communication under high-pressure scenarios.

Should be Bilingual - English and Arabic Speaker.
