Position Summary

The Athletics Event Operations Intern supports the planning and execution of home athletic events and related operations. This role is integral to delivering a high-quality game-day experience by assisting with event setup, in-game operations, fan engagement, and facility management.

The intern will gain hands-on experience in collegiate athletics operations while working closely with athletic staff, game-day personnel, and campus partners. This position requires a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.

Key Responsibilities

Event Operations

  • Assist with setup and breakdown of athletic venues, including fields, courts, and equipment for home contests
  • Arrive several hours prior to events to support preparation and operational needs
  • Ensure facilities are clean, organized, and event-ready

Game Day Execution

  • Support execution of in-game promotions, halftime entertainment, and sponsor activations
  • Assist with coordinating on-field or on-court activities
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure smooth and timely event operations

Fan Engagement

  • Help create a welcoming and engaging environment for fans and guests
  • Distribute promotional materials and assist with marketing initiatives
  • Provide customer service and assist with crowd management when necessary

Logistics & Administrative Support

  • Assist with ticketing operations, marketing efforts, and general event logistics
  • Support facility upkeep, including cleaning, organizing, and minor maintenance tasks
  • Complete administrative duties and other projects as assigned


Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student (preferred fields: sports management, communications, business, or related area)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and organizational ability
  • Ability to work in stressful situations
  • Interest in collegiate athletics administration and compliance

Education

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Sports Management, Marketing, Communications, or a related field

Flexibility

  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays based on event schedules

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
